Signs point to Dee Gordon leading off, starting at second

Don Mattingly hasn't officially announced his starting lineup for the first game of the Opening Series, but the one he put on the field for Thursday's exhibition game against Team Australia will probably be repeated when the Dodgers face the D-backs on Saturday night at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Dee Gordon led off and played second base, a job he apparently won with a more impressive transition from shortstop than Cuban signee Alex Guerrero.

Folks, let's not kid ourselves here. Dee has an amazing 9 stolen bases in only 42 spring at bats. {Billy Hamilton has 9sb in 36 at bats}. Pretty close; however the KEY distinction is Dee Gordon is eligible at SS (and soon to be 2B).

Imagine 75+ sb out of SS. So much for getting him on the cheap tomorrow. Vegas has a morning line of $20+ in auctions and as early as 4th round in standard drafts. The SS eligibility separates him from Hamilton IMO.

i don't think his adp will be 4th round, but it only takes one guy who wants the speed out of SS to lock him up. if i had to guess as to his adp for the next two weeks, i'll say 6th round. i heard he crept close to that range yesterday in a draft.

Honestly, I love it. The villain is back and in true form.

Dee Gordon is slugging .476 so far this spring. Assuming he bats leadoff, Mattingly said Puig will hit behind him. Gordon should see LOTS of fastballs. That .476 slg could easily translate to double digit hrs {ps - he has 4 triples already this spring. a triple is almost a hr}.

Hmmm, interesting logic. Dan Uggla was a 4th rounder then....and has 3 "real" HR's this spring, not "almost" ones.

You have to realize (who knows if the Dodgers did) that Guererro was a shortstop in Cuba so he is learning a new position. Since Hanley wants to stay at SS, Guerrero has to learn to play second base and that is not easy for everyone. We will see if they keep him in LA or send him to AAA to work on his defense at his new position - he also has the cultural changes to navigate.

Apparently Dee Gordon will be in a platoon and sit vs LHP.
