Bryce Harper thoughts?
What is the general consensus on him? I have very mixed feelings. Obviously he has the tools on paper. Can hit, can run, etc. He also has never put together a dynamic season in his brief career.
I am curious to know what others expect from him this year and if he is worthy of a late 1st round selection.

I think he'll put up first round numbers when he's playing but I think his style almost guarantees at least 1 spell on the DL.
Re: Bryce Harper thoughts?
People would rather be a year early with him than a year too late.
I've yet to draft him. The guy was born in 1992. There's so much time for him to develop. A first-round price just isn't worth it for me.
Need to see him improve before I can give him a first-round pick.

Though I took Harper I think I agree that it may have been better to let someone like this prove he can produce on that level (and stay healthy) at least once before investing a first round pick on him.

Overdrafted...again

Overdrafted=I don't own him!

Re: Bryce Harper thoughts?
In the future, I think Bryce Harper will lead baseball in homers more than once. His power is real.
Until that time, I won't draft him. Today, he is a better real player than fantasy player. In real baseball, sitting on the bench, nursing a boo boo is acceptable. Chipper Jones is a prime example.
This behavior drives fantasy owners crazy.
The talent is real, especially the power. But nobody has found a way to hit home runs from the bench.
Until 'he gets' that he has to change his crash dummy style of play, baseball fans will adore him.
Not so much for his owners.

On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Agree with many of the previous thoughts, don't think he's quite there yet. Will be a first rounder eventually. He and Puig both scare me a bit in fantasy because of how hard they play. They're throwing their bodies all over the place, crashing into walls, etc. It's exciting to watch as a fan but tough to take when your 1st/2nd rounder is spending a month on the shelf.

Harper = this is THE year
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I'm thinking he's more Jay Bruce than Mike Trout -- which is not a bad thing.
