Josh Reddick

Speculation is that Josh Reddick will be sent to AAA Sacramento on Friday to make room for Craig Gentry.

I know some NFBC owners were very high on Reddick this year as a bounce-back candidate. While I personally wasn't targeting him on draft day, I still find this development surprising -- you'd think the A's would give him more than 2 weeks to prove himself.

That would be a shocker to me.

I dont see it happening either, but if it does, it is strictly because Reddick has an option left and it keeps them from having to cut anyone for the short term while he gets his swing back.

Dude has a .311 wOBA in 1500 career PA as a corner OF. He's a good defender, but offensively he's slightly better than replacement level.

A plausible explanation if it does come to pass. Or it could be just be a way for Billy Beane to showcase Fuld for a trade.

BTW, I meant to infer that this posibility comes as a complete surprise to me, not that it necessarily won't happen. I was one that expected a bounce-back season for Reddick, and when I drafted him, I wasn't even thinking about this possible scenario.

I'd be right in a way, though, as in "bounced-back" to Aaa.

This speculation sure isn't doing him any favors. 0-5 with 4 K's today.
