Carlos Gomez suspension

Today's lineups for the Bucs / Brewers are in and Carlos Gomez appears to be set to start in the leadoff.

Will we hear shortly after the game begins that his suspension will commence tomorrow, thus flipping another bird at fantasy players who own the Milwaukee outfielder?

I find it odd that they don't come out with a decision before the series where he plays against the team with which he had the incident last month. Is the MLB waiting to see if anything else happens between them before they make a ruling? Are they planning on letting the suspension slide but don't want to anger the Pirates players and fans during the series?

The Brewers must not be expecting a decision that goes against Gomez anytime soon otherwise you'd think they would rest him after he was HBP on Sunday. X-Rays were negative so it may have been something that wouldn't benefit from rest anyway.

I'm keeping him active, of course. But it won't surprise me at all if the announcement of a suspension comes suspiciously close to the period immediately following the deadline to lock him in for the current 3-game stretch.

Go Team!

Gomez, dealing with a back issue and out of today's lineup, dropped his appeal of the suspension and will serve it Wed/Thurs/Fri
