Five different names have been Royals hitting coaches over the last year.
Seriously.
No, seriously.

they don't have any good hitters (slight apology to Alex Gordon on some days) ....
so they don't need a hitting coach
the DO need someone to light a FIRE under all the asses in the dugout and some of the ones upstairs

There’s no way to look cool while saying “Sveum.” Go try it in the mirror.

Going into today's games:
Nelson Cruz- 19 HR
Kansas City Royals - 21 HR
You got a lot of young - or at least not old - hitters (Hosmer, Perez, Moustakas, Gordon, Butler, Cain, Escobar) that collectively are just not getting it done. Something had to change, and you know the GM ain't firing himself. Seemed like some of the hitters responded to George Brett last year; maybe it will happen again. Not saying this is the hitting coach's fault, but they "need" to show progress this year and at some point even the most patient fans are going to give up and stay home.

maybe the new guy has a voucher system - every hitter in the lineup tonight has at least one hit
hopefully nobody picked Dickey at Fan Duel tonight

Brett gets maybe too much credit because of a combination of his name, the press, and a KC hot streak. He, himself said that most of his coaching was more mental than physical.
Moore is continually 'making moves'. Their not real moves. Just moves to let the public know that he knows they're unhappy.
Royals batters all get a hit tonight and that will go on Sveum's resume even though he hasn't had any time to start his program.
Clearly, the Royals do not have one hitter in their lineup that is feared. Little power.
They are 26th in walks taken. Pitchers are hardly pitching around their hitters.
The most telling statistic to show lack of hitters to be feared is the intentional walk stat.
Every team in baseball has received at least six intentional walks. Except for three teams.
The San Diego Padres, the Houston Astros, and the Kansas City Royals.
This may change soon in Houston if Springer keeps hitting the way he does.
The Royals have a nice group of hitters. But, their General Manager has failed them in getting a Mark Trumbo or Nellie Cruz(easy to say now

) or even a Wil Myers
They are needed to put some ooomph in their lineup.
When trading James Shields at the trading deadline, perhaps he will look for that. But, I have doubts.
Even though the Royals window is open now, I have more faith that the GM will try to improve the 2018 Royals more so than the 2015 Royals.

It will be interesting to see if Moore has a job in KC next year. Although I don't have the perspective of a local or a Royals fan, it seems like they have been milking the future-is-bright-because-we-have-lots-of-young-talent story for a number of years. At some point, the just-wait-for-next-year excuse doesn't fly. Expectations were high last year, and they largely fell flat. Still, a strong stretch late in the year gave hope, and the believers argued they were just a year early. Still, they gave up Wil Myers, a young stud-in-the-making for two years of James Shields. The argument was they needed the ace/workhorse at the top of the rotation to get over the hump and (finally) make the playoffs. Well, what if Shields doesn't get them over the hump or they are forced to trade him to trade him mid season to get something back? The Myers trade will look worse and worse. At some point, someone will have to answer for the continuing mediocrity and inability to develop pitchers or get their hitters to reach their potential. If things don't improve soon, more changes will come, and they may be overdue.
Just my two cents.

Come on, Dan. Give us Royals fans some hope. This play from last night pretty much sums up what it's like to be a life long Royals fan.

I thought about Ned Yost saying that Billy Butler will steal some bases three years ago when seeing that clip.
I laughed then and now.
Butler has become a tough U-only player to start and roster.

Are you sure he didn't say biscuits instead of bases?

They need a manager that is more competitive. Yost is the worst. He is mangling this short window they may or may not have had. And when you are a small market you need to have power hitting platoon guys also. It is just a ridiculous organization to have to be a life long fan of. Never seen a team that doesn't care about winning as much as this outfit. They should be better than this. How much so is up for debate. But they should not be this bad. And it has a lot to do with Yost. He blew a handful of games last year with pathetic managing. That is hard to do. And he is not helping develop these guys either.
