Well, we have a couple of days to relax and prepare for the second half of the season, so let's reflect a bit on the first half and get some input from our NFBC participants. Answer any or all of the following if you can:
** What do you need in the second half to win an NFBC league title?
** Who has been your most pleasant surprise for you in the first half and why?
** Outside of injuries, who has let you down the most with his first half?
Good luck everyone in the second half and let's hope for better health in these final 2 1/2 months of action.

1- A Miracle
2- Wily Peralta:
Drafted in the 22nd round. He already has 10 wins, just one less than his total from last year. His ERA and WHiP are both 15% better than last year. His K rate is up slightly also......
3- Domonic Brown:
Drafted in the 9th round. Right now he has the lowest WAR (-1.4) of any player in baseball that currently qualifies for the league batting title (~250 PA's). Enough said

A do-over.
** Who has been your most pleasant surprise for you in the first half and why?
There's quite a few players who've surprised in a great way. Unfortunately none are on my rosters.
** Outside of injuries, who has let you down the most with his first half?
The guy drafting and managing my teams. Oh wait....

a few decent team this year...but my best team is an Auction team that is in top 5 right now. Bats are great......pitching lost Tanaka and Fernandez already. I need Edison Volquez to become Cy Young in the second half. Pitching a deep concern.

** What do you need in the second half to win an NFBC league title?
First and foremost, the Sultans will have to slip. He is way, WAY out in front.
** Who has been your most pleasant surprise for you in the first half and why?
Morneau.
** Outside of injuries, who has let you down the most with his first half?
Shin-Soo Choo. I guess the big contract curse is alive!
A few more of my own...
Biggest draft goof!
Nate Jones or Fernando Rodney? Hmmmm....I will take Rodney...no Jones...No Rodney...JONES! Get the picture.
Best FA pickup!
Chad Qualls...sad, right?
Who would you like to see make a second half impact?
Choo, Longoria, and Archie Bradley.

** What do you need in the second half to win an NFBC league title?
WIN A FREE AGENT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE FOR STARTERS!!!! HIT HIT HIT!
** Who has been your most pleasant surprise for you in the first half and why?
I have to say Casey McGehee. He's the only starter of the 14 that we didn't draft, but he's been in our lineup since 4-7 and he's a hitting machine...a few HR's wouldn't hurt but 53 RBI's with 1 HR???...I haven't seen that before.
** Outside of injuries, who has let you down the most with his first half?
Austin Jackson!!! Our own fault I guess...expected to much...

For the players that played well to keep doing so...for players that are supposed to be stars to start playing like them, for players that have a good track record to play like that track record for the second half.
** Who has been your most pleasant surprise for you in the first half and why?
Mesoraco and Lorenzo Cain - Even with injuries to Mesoraco he's still produced at a high level. Cain had an injury too, but I've been surprised.
** Outside of injuries, who has let you down the most with his first half?
Harper. I know he's barely played and can't get into a groove but I expected much more when playing. He's getting moved up and down batting order a lot too. Now, he's in a Sportscenter commercial for the second half.....BAD NEWS. Hardy with the lack of power. While Liriano has a track record of one good season following with many bad ones (I think anyway), I thought with the Pitt team being good and the ballpark and him having some wicked pitches.......he would have at least somewhat followed up last season. Ouch!
Good luck everyone in the second half and let's hope for better health in these final 2 1/2 months of action.
