Trade Talk

Anyone think J.P. Arencibia is anything more than a placeholder until Texas makes a trade? I guess they do not see Robinson Chirinos as a real option either. Who they gonna trade for?

Yes, that was the basis for my question. I just do not think Arencibia will cut it any better at first than he did at catcher. Who could Texas get on the cheap that would be a better option at first?ToddZ wrote:I don't see Texas as a buyer or seller. The pieces are in place for a run next season -- no need to dismantle. Maybe deal Soria but that's it.
Arencibia will be playing first base (Soto activated, Pena released).
I don't see them wanting to try anyone else -- they've run through the cheap options already.Edwards Kings wrote:Yes, that was the basis for my question. He's in his arb yrs. If they don't want him next yr, they can just non-tender him. They wouldn't get much more than a bag of balls for him, even with a hot streak.Deadheadz wrote:![]()
Has anyone considered Texas is trying to spark interest in Arencibia so they can unload his contract?
All he needs is a hot streak of power before the deadline and some team might bite.
Rangers have buyers remorse on JP, if you ask me.
