Javier Baez - SS - Cubs
Javier Baez will be promoted to the Cubs on Tuesday.
Baez got off to a slow start this season at Triple-A Iowa, but he hit .322 with a 1.046 OPS, 12 home runs, and 38 RBI over his last 40 games and obviously isn't being brought up to sit on the Cubs' bench. The talented 21-year-old can play both shortstop and second base, and is worth adding in all mixed fantasy leagues for the stretch run. He'll debut Tuesday night in Colorado.
My view: Really? The same can't be said about Mookie Betts (called up twice and sitting on bench), and Taveras (played once every three games previous to Craig being traded). Maybe, just maybe, Baez was called up to sit on the bench.
Whaddaya think boys, does Baez play or suffer the fate of Betts? I need to know for lineup purposes.
Yeah sure....LMFAO

He's going to sit so they can play Ryan Sweeney? or Nate Schierholtz? Don't think so. He plays unless he plays his way back to AAA.

Bradley? Nava? I can see Holt, but Betts didn't play first time. This time I can see why a little.Hells Satans wrote:He's going to sit so they can play Ryan Sweeney? or Nate Schierholtz? Don't think so. He plays unless he plays his way back to AAA.
Taveras - Craig I can understand a little too.

I can't explain the Red Sox, but the Cubs have a plan and Baez is a key part of the plan. They aren't playing for anything at this point.

The Cubs have 52 games remaining. Unless injured, expect Baez to play 48-49 games. Maybe only sitting against a Cueto or a Wainwright or a Greinke.....
