This Year and Next....

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Sat Sep 06, 2014 2:56 pm

Just some thoughts about this year and next....
Oh, and I'll send out e-mails to those in the Pre-Mature League next weekend. We should be drafting by the time the last pitch of this regular season is made!
Woo hoo!

The top four 2b taken last (this) year were Cano, Kipnis, Pedroia, and Carpenter.
Chris Carter has more homers than all four.
Then again, Chris Carter cannot play 2b. In fact, for fantasy purposes, Carter can't play anywhere.
He'll be 'U' only next year.

Miguel Cabrera, over the last two years, has led baseball in just about every major league statistical category.
This year he is only his TEAM'S leader in rbi.
Guaranteed that injury will be blamed for this during the post season.

Last season, my pick to click as far as taking PED's was Chris Davis.
This year, Victor Martinez.
Martinez has stayed healthy all year and now has 30 homer power.
Martinez had the brains enough to do this when having a contract year.

We were ok with Joe Mauer being a powerless catcher. Depending on his previous year, he had been taken anywhere from the second to sixth rounds.
Now, he's a 1b.
Can you say James Loney?

Scouts love Jurickson Profar.
Somebody has to.
Only seems right though. They're the only ones that have seen him play.
In Texas case, an Odor may be preferable to stench.

Where does Justin Verlander go next year?
Excuses have run thin about mechanics.
Whether he throws a shutout or gives up 8 ER.....
Kate Upton waits for him.
What, he worry?

Who would you rather have in Closing a game next year....
Rafael Soriano, Koji Uehara, Casey Janssen or Dellin Betances?
......Yeah, me too.

Joc Pederson becomes next year's George Springer?

Name a billion dollar business, a drug of choice, and a pitcher not draftable in most leagues.
Answer at the bottom of the post.

A leadoff hitter, Ian Kinsler, leads all 2b in rbi this year.
Just a couple of years ago, experts were foretelling of the coming of the slugging second basemen....

Giancarlo Stanton leads Mike Trout in three of five roto categories....
And he's only trailing him by six runs and three stolen bases in the others...
I could see Stanton being taken number one in some drafts....
Especially if there are strong trade rumors or, he indeed, gets traded.

Is taking a walk a good thing?
If listening to the MLB Channel, parades should be thrown for these type of Vottoian players.
Did you know that only one player (Andrew McCutchen, .303) among those with 65 walks (18 players), is hitting .300?

Only one player (Jose Abreu, .324), is in the top 50 of strike out leaders, yet hitting .300.....

Joe Mauer's OBP is .356.....MLB is throwing parades.
Joe Mauer has four homers and three stolen bases.
His fantasy owners are throwing up....

I live in Colorado. I have to put up with Rockies fans ballyhooing Justin Morneau.
Why?
Morneau has catchers numbers with a good batting avg....I don't get it.

Hisashi Iwakuma has 14 Wins......and 14 bb.....SERIOUSLY! I looked it up! I wouldn't lie....

AJ Burnett owners wish he had as many W's as BB's....
He has 79 BB's.....and 7 W's....

Ubaldo Jimenez has given up 70 BB's....
In just 114 innings...
Uvotto Jimenez....

Justin Verlander is the only pitcher with double digit Wins (12) with an E.R.A. as high as 4.80....
And still....he goes home to Kate Upton....
The Kate Upton thing just seems to diminish any stats printed about Verlander......

The answer is Coke.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
