This has been talked about many times before. But I still find it frustrating especially at this time of year. I have Jordy Mercer as my shortstop. He was scratched today Tuesday before his game started and BEFORE he locked in for the week. So I thought I might want to get him out of the lineup. Reasonable. I have J.J. Hardy as my other shortstop so easy switch--right. Wrong. Hardy was already in my utility spot and was locked in yesterday on Monday. If I could have moved Hardy to shortstop, I could have put any one of two outfielders on my bench (who hadn't locked in yet) into my utility spot.
I see no reason why we have the rule that allows players like Mercer to be locked in on Tuesday, if I can't accomplish the above move. Sure if I had Mercer in my utility spot instead of Hardy, I could have made the move. But I didn't know Mercer would be scratched and didn't have the foresight or wasn't lucky enough to have Mercer in the utility spot.
If there is one thing I'd like to see accomplished is allowing the roster flexibility to make the move as described above.
One thing to Accomplish--Lineup Flexibility

Agreed, there is no logical reason why you shouldn't be able to do this. Not being able to hamstrings you when it should not. This is exact thing could end up costing me dearly. Hard to believe it is not taken care of yet, when it is simply a programming issue. No logical person would argue that you shouldn't be able to do this. They have this ability in football, so there is also no consistency in place either.
