Let's give it up for everyone who earned an NFBC Main Event league title in 2014 because we know how tough it is to win one of these titles. Kudos to everyone who came through in 2014.
It was a fantastic 2014 season with a lot of injuries, a lot of strong pitching performances and a lot of injuries. That's right, bookends of injuries, strikeouts and bad hitting in 2014. To win an NFBC Main Event league title in our very tough 15-team league format you had to draft well, constantly pick up the right free agents and make the right lineup decisions. It wasn't easy this year, that's for sure.
Congrats again to all of our league champions this year. Here's a few quick facts and then a list of our league champs:
** Alan Greenberg was the only owner to win multiple league titles, winning New York League 4 and Las Vegas League 4. He drafted from the 15th spot in both leagues.
** Jon Stadtmueller was the only owner to have two teams in the Top 11 overall as he won Las Vegas League 5 and finished 2nd in the very tough March 26th Online League 5.
** Steve Fiore came the closest to competing for the $75,000 cash bonus as he finished 3rd in the NFBC Primetime and 7th in the NFBC Main Event. Eric Heberlig also came close as he won the NFBC Primetime and finished 13th in the NFBC Main Event. Nobody won the "Lindy" this year, but several owners continue to prove it can be done again.
** Out of our 28 leagues, six champions came from the No. 6 spot to lead the way. Nos. 1, 3, 11 and 15 were next with three league champions each.
** 13 of the 15 draft spots produced league champions this year. Only Nos. 2 and 4 failed to produce league champions in 2014.
** Six league champions started their teams with Clayton Kershaw in the first round. No other first round pick was on more title teams than the great Clayton Kershaw.

Only two out of 28 with Mike Trout. Fascinating. Always interesting to see what spot and who was taken with their first round pick. And imagine how Kershaw owners felt when he was out to start the year, I felt like I dodged a bullet. Silly me.
