Tentative Schedule Of Events For 2015 NFBC

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Oct 20, 2014 10:45 am

Okay, I think we have every event accounted for in this list, but if not let us know. Below is the tentative Schedule of Events for each city and Online. We are working hard with the Bellagio Las Vegas to host both weekend of events there, as well as the New York Hilton for Second Weekend and Sheraton Rosemont for Second Weekend. We're excited to be back in all three cities this season, our 12th NFBC season!!

We have not changed the entry fees at all, nor the Events Fees or co-manager fees for this season. Overall prizes remain the same, one year after we raised them for several contests. Easter weekend is in the mix this year, so it makes it tough to project huge increases across the board, but if demand exceeds expectations we'll make sure it all works out with the prizes.

Speaking of Easter, we know that MLB's Opening Day is on Easter Weekend and that Passover is that weekend as well. We weren't sure how that would play out in New York or other locations for that last weekend, so we did add a fourth date for the Main Event on Thursday, April 2nd. We will host that in New York City, Las Vegas and Online to give folks another option if that final weekend doesn't work out. Last year we had 5 Online Main Event Leagues on the mid-week offering on Wednesday, so it's obvious that several folks like the weekday offering. This will give folks another option who can't get pulled away on the weekends because of family obligations, especially with the holiday in the mix.

Let us know if we've missed anything or if we have a time wrong or if we should add anything else. We're open for suggestions before turning Registration on in mid-November. We'll post the online offerings -- which will include the debut NFBC Cutline Championship -- later this week. Thanks all and welcome to the 12th NFBC season!!

I guess you'll have to play it by ear, but it seems doubtful that you can fill a Diamond and an Ultimate Auction at the same time on Sunday. Unlikely you find 30 different people willing to pay those $$$. If you get traction on a Diamond Auction, you may want to consider moving the Sunday Ultimate to Friday afternoon.

Yes, the idea wasn't to compete at that time, but we are limited in when we can do this. I figured at the very least we'd get one or the other at that time and we have an Ultimate Auction planned on Saturday night. I will gladly switch either the Diamond Auction or the Ultimate Auction to a different time if folks concur. I mean, Thursday night, Friday night, you name it, I'll consider, but it's tough, especially for open times AFTER the Main Event. Ultimate Auction on Friday at 5 pm PT is fine by me and if needed we can add an Auction Championship on Thursday night for folks who love auctions all weekend long. Sound good?

Yes, I've put it on the schedule in Las Vegas and Online for now. I talked to a few folks who said if they are flying to Las Vegas for Final Four weekend they are likely staying through the weekend and wouldn't fly out on Easter Sunday. I'll also likely stay there since Opening Day is that night and it's not an ideal time to fly back, so why not see if anyone else wants to compete.

Sure, if there are 15 folks who want to do an Ultimate Auction in NY, we'll run it. However, since we're already losing Sunday in NY where we had one Auction Championship, I'm not sure how we fit this all in unless we get busy on Thursday night. But we'll run it if we can fill it.

Assuming schedules go back to "normal" in 2016, I'd be in for an ultimate auction in NYC at that point. I'm out of anything in NYC next year. Put me down for the Diamond Auction.

I like the Diamond auction on Sunday afternoon, and you probably don't want to move that to same time as Platinum. You can sign me up for the Diamond Auc.

I love the idea of ending my Vegas draft season with a Diamond Auction. Please put me down as a participant.

When were you thinking about this Neighbor? Unfortunately for me, it would have to take the place of the NYC Super Auction for me to consider it. I can't get to NYC before Friday night and need to leave by Saturday night. I'd be willing to upgrade though if the timing works. If not, I'm a go for the NYC Super Auction once again.

Love, love, love the auction format.

Any news on the Cutline and how multi-position eligibility would work?

The NFBC Cutline Championship is a go for 2015. I think we have finalized the Rules, the playoff format, the prizes and the FAAB. I think this could be a lot of fun because everyone loves to draft baseball teams and this format will allow the computer to pick your optimal scoring lineup each week. No starting lineup decisions and only 4 FAAB periods. After June 20th, your work is done and all you have to do is sit back and watch your best lineup take you to the playoffs and then through the Championship Round for the $50,000 grand prize. I'm really starting to dig this format.

Stay tuned. Details are coming.

Position eligibility will be exactly the same for the Cutline as it is with every other NFBC league.

Good to hear. The Cutline is perfect for a busy guy like you; Finish a draft in 2 1/2 hours, add players in FAAB 4 times a year and just let the computer pick your optimal scoring lineup each week. It might even be better than the NFFC Draft Champions because this one has a $50,000 grand prize and hopefully higher in future years. But you have to survive two Cutlines in the playoff to get to the money round (Round 3). Should be interesting.

I like the final Rules. Just going over them again before posting.

I'm holding off on a Signup List until we post all of the Rules. I know you guys are so addicted that you'll blindly sign up for contests, but we need to post the Rules, Prizes, Venues, etc., first. The Cutline Rules need to be vetted by you folks before we set up any draft dates, but I think we have a fun contest and yes I'll create a new thread at that time. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done with this contest, but I'm starting to really dig this format and I do believe it could bring in a lot of new users going forward. Everyone loves to draft baseball teams; it's the weekly grind of setting lineups that can be tough. This "optimal scoring lineup" format takes care of that.

All is coming soon. We are all over this right now.
