Mike Napoli

Post by Edwards Kings » Tue Nov 04, 2014 12:21 pm

"Mike Napoli will undergo bimaxillary advancement surgery on Tuesday.
The surgery, which consists of moving the upper jaw and the lower jaw forward, is aimed to relieve his lingering sleep apnea. Napoli also dealt with injuries to his finger, toe, and back this season, but he will not require surgery for any of them."

Now, I have sleep apnea, but "moving the upper jaw and lower jaw forward" sounds painful and a little confusing. Isn't another word for "upper jaw" the "skull"?

We like projections, so Mike Napoli before having his upper and lower jaw extended forward...

And projected Mike Napoli after...

Not much different....

"Mike Napoli said Sunday that he has felt much more energized in his offseason workouts since undergoing surgery in November for his sleep apnea.

It was a horribly painful procedure -- called a bimaxillary advancement -- that involved the restructuring of Napoli's jaw and lower face. But he felt the surgery was necessary in order to continue his playing career and he's hoping it'll improve his on-field production in 2015. "I couldn't do it anymore," said Napoli, "feeling the way I was feeling. I was like, 'I need to have the surgery or I'm not going to play anymore.' That's how bad it was. I came in (and told the team), 'I need to have the surgery now.'"

You can move him up on your draft lists now KJ!
