Beckett Magazine 12-Team Mock Draft: Monday, 7 pm ET

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Sun Jan 04, 2015 7:50 pm

I've been asked by the editors of Beckett Magazine to create a 12-team, 23-round Mock Draft that will be in their Fantasy Baseball publication, which hits newsstands in February. I said I'd find 12 of the best in the NFBC for this one and we can even play it out if you'd like. Who wants to join in the fun?

I know this is last minute notice, but it just came together. Here's the details:

Beckett Magazine Mock Draft
12 Teams, 30 Rounds, In-Season FAAB
Draft: Monday, Jan. 5th, 7 pm ET

Just post your intentions here and I'll sign everyone up by tomorrow afternoon. I'll compete as well and see if Tom wants to. Let's draft baseball while watching the National Championship football game. Who's in? We'll draft on our NFBC site, go 30 rounds and play it out. No cost initially, but if there's a side pool we can do that. Anyway, let's get 12 drafters and get your names in the magazine, okay? Thanks all.

Here's the signup list for Monday at 7 pm ET, again 12 teams, 30 rounds:

1. Greg Ambrosius
2. Bill Strickler
3. Dan Kenyon
4. Roger Martin
5. Ryan Gray
6. Roy Ericson
7. Paul Spradling
8. Kris Carroll
9. Rick Hayden
10. Tom Zarogiannos
11. Dustin Wagner
12. Jim Jeckewicz or Wayne Edwards

I'd be interested. Not an NFBC vet but I've been playing competitive fantasy baseball successfully for 15 years if that counts for anything.

I would be interested as well. Would be drafting the same if money was on the line.

Looks like you have 12. If you need a fall back, I am available.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Okay, I went with NFBC vets because I don't know all of the Message Board names and I want to get everyone signed up for this as quickly as possible. Sorry there's no intended slight at all. I think I know everyone here. If we have too many, someone can take my spot. Just confirm via email that you're good to go if you're on this list and I'll set it up. Again, it's 12 teams, 30 rounds on the NFBC site, $0 entry and we'll play it out on the site for fun or side $'s if anyone coordinates.

See ya tonight and I'm at [email protected]. Look for email confirmation of signups this morning and you can set KDS immediately if you'd like. Here's the list right now:

1. Greg Ambrosius
2. Bill Strickler
3. Dan Kenyon
4. Roger Martin
5. Redgta91
6. Roy Ericson
7. Paul Spradling
8. Kris Carroll
9. Rick Hayden
10. Tom Zarogiannos
11. Dustin Wagner
12. Yah Mule or Wayne Edwards

Okay, everyone is signed up for the Beckett Magazine League. Set your KDS preferences immediately if you care to do that because I think the draft order will be pulled in the next hour or so. Look for that email shortly.

I got all 12 owners in and either Jackal or myself will be on standby if someone can't make it. Email me at [email protected] only if you can't make it. Thanks.

Here's the lineup card for tonight at 7 pm ET, again 12 teams, 30 rounds:

1. Wayne Edwards
2. Bill Strickler
3. Dan Kenyon
4. Roger Martin
5. Ryan Gray
6. Roy Ericson
7. Paul Spradling
8. Kris Carroll
9. Rick Hayden
10. Tom Zarogiannos
11. Dustin Wagner
12. Jim Jeckewicz

I'll be your host and will chat during the draft. See ya there.

Just an FYI: We will use your names in the Beckett Magazine and I think there will be a small writeup on each pick. I need to coordinate that with them, but I'll handle that so don't worry about it. Just know that your name is going on the draft results, so do your best.

Thanks to everyone who participated last night. We did that in less than 3 hours and everything went well. We had a GREAT group of owners.

I've forwarded the draft results to the Beckett guys and will help them with any content they need. I'm glad to have the NFBC owners back in print with an NFBC draft and hopefully it generates more interest in our 12-team formats. Thanks guys.
