Starling Marte

I am not really sure why he is being drafted so early in drafts. if you take his career highs in all of his categories you would have a .291 13 bombs 83 runs scored 56 RBI and 41 SB. I believe I would rather wait and pick a leonys Martin or Brett Gardner. I can understand someone taking Jacoby Ellsbury because I believe he can and will beat Marte in almost every category. Ellsbury has set a much higher ceiling with past seasons. I am just curious what people that draft Marte think they are going to receive in return for their second round selection.

Marte = carlos Gomez. Maybe even with a high avg

There may be a power surge coming. Marte looks more like Carlos Gomez ultra-lite. 50 RBI out of your second round pick doesn't sound good to me. I personally don't think his .373 BABIP can get any higher

Think McCutchen, but with 20-30 more SB and we have his floor this year.

.

Marte didn't show power in the minors, so where's the indication of his HR breakout? How is he going to be any different than the Alex Rios of 2013?

That is exactly what the Red Sox thought about Hanley before they traded him...........

I've noticed over the years a player will get compared to an elite player and everyone in fantasy goes nuts over him. Examples are both Hosmer and Lawrie who were touted as having the upside of Braun. Both have been greatly hyped and sought after by fantasy players and neither have come close.

I used to think Marte was going to be a 20/40 guy but it hasn't been very encouraging. It could still happen and I hope it does but he's going too high for my valuations. Like Harper, I won't own him where he's being drafted.

It will be fun to see you guys being right though. I love the Bucs and they're gradually getting better every year.

Go Pirates!

im not sure where to rank marte honestly. do we know where he hits in that lineup? power and avg were up in the 2nd half but his running was down. he K's a ton but has a really high babip.

he has a current adp of 37. some hitters who are being drafted in front of him are:
Y Puig @ 30
A. Beltre @ 31
J Upton @ 32
B Harper @ 32
T Frazier @ 37
some guys going after him:
Freeman @ 38
Vmart @ 39 (im sure going down)
D Gordon @ 41
G Springer @ 42
M Kemp @ 44

there are certainly some guys up there who i would draft ahead of him but probably more listed there that i would draft after him. im just using adp as a tool here and not condoning its accuracy.
