Let's See Some Cool NFBC Team Names

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Feb 17, 2015 10:41 am

One of the neat attractions to the original book "Rotisserie Baseball: The Official Rule Book" by Glenn Waggoner was the way each owner named his/her team. They were catchy phrases off their last names and it showed the creativity of the owners in this original league. Fantasy owners in local leagues did the same thing, which brought a flair to each league.

In the NFBC through the years, we automatically name your team when you sign up by your last name. So it's Team Ambrosius when I sign up, but THAT'S BORING!!! To change your team name all you have to do is:

Click on any 2015 Team Link under My Teams
Go to Settings in the green navigational bar and pull down to Team Info/Logo
Then change Team Ambrosius to a new name and hit Submit. You can even add a team logo

That's too easy. Take the time if you can to change your team name and let's get creative!!

The other night in an online draft I monitored I noticed that every owner had changed their team name. I knew that was going to be a good league with owners who were into it and I was right. Good, fun league with owners who took the time to change their team names. Love it.

It's cool that some owners are known more for their team name than their real name in the NFBC, such as:
Cocktails & Dreams
King of Queens
Incredible Hulking Us
CC's Desperados
Doughboys
Quahogs
Glenneration X
Sack
Welcome to Stevieland
Zefurs
ALL IN
RoundTrippers
Spartacus
Walla Walla!!

Here's a few original NFBC team names from last year that caught my eye. Let's add to this list if you see some you like:
Chicks Dig The Long Ball
Chico Lind's Hermanos
CHIN MUSIC
Votto Yu tinking?
Bad News Cabreras

So this is a reminder to get creative with your team names and let's see more teams with changed names. And if you see a good one that catches your eye, post it here. Thanks all and good luck in 2015.

This topic jogged a funny memory. Back in the late 90s I did the CDM leagues and I used a team name that a friend of mine used once in his football league: The Fingerless Proctologists. Needless to say about two weeks into the season someone complained and CDM called me to change it.

Staying on that wonderful theme, my friend's brother also did a NASCAR fantasy league. Team name: Wrecked 'Em.

One year my son and I had a team.
The "Double D's"... for Dad and Dan.

It wasn't so much the name that got us in trouble as the jpeg I used for the logo.

CBS made me take it down.

Maybe they're only cool to me but I'm using twists on alternative rock band names for many of my teams this year:

Fister the People
Franzen Ferdinand
The White Strops
The Ramones Santiago
Arcade Fiers
Death Cab for Cueto
Flores and the Machine
Melky Chance
Greene Day
Vic Black Keys
Our Lady Pearce
Abad Religion
Ben Fulds Five
Blind Melancon
Hollerado Rockies
Kansas City and Color

Party on, Garth

I'm trying to decide between

Smoaking in the Boys Room
or
Up in Smoak

Used " Bourne to Run" already.

Before Madcow I seem to remember Dan as Ron Jeremy of Midget Porn.

Just thought of a good name for someone who likes heavy metal bands:

Helix Fernandez

It gives you both King Felix AND Jose Fernandez. It's a 2-bagger!

MadCow has been the long running name from my CDM days. RJMP is usually tagged to an auction team.

Dave Potts' "Low Talkers" is a very appropriate name given his personality...dude is a ninja.

Worst Russians Ever is another notable name...and a formidable team. not even going to try to spell their name

Greg, why do you always leave out your future marketing and PR director? You're not scoring points on this end if you want to keep my salary demands down. Besides, you know I'm your biggest closet supporter :P

For your viewing pleasure. How me and the boys felt during and after the Platinum Draft in Vegas last year.

Thanks, Russel :) Man, it seems like it's been so long since we last talked in Chicago since I've been going to Vegas the last 5 years or so... how's it going?
