if u were in a slow draft as opposed to a fast one, u would have seen the injury news before your pick
In all seriousness, thats a bad break

I'm in the same 4 Hour DC with Corleone. I am beyond impressed with how he's handled this. Class act all the way. I'm not sure I would have been as composed or gracious. The shame of it was the guy after him burned two and half hours off the four-hour clock. If he had communicated to the room that he would be gone that long, Corleone may have waited a bit before picking and could have heard the news about Jansen first...
Although Corleone did win the Trout lottery, so I guess we can't be too sad for him.

Yep, and so another baseball season starts, with Jansen locked in as my top closer.
Happy Wednesday.

On top of Trout he's got the surprise #1 3B in the game...Nolen Arennado. Don't shed too many tears for him as he's off to a hell of a start.

Corleone picks promptly in all the DCs I've been in with him so I'm thinking it's unlikely he would have delayed his pick had he known the #2 slot drafter would be away. Actually, by setting auto one in the previous round, there was an indication he was going to be away for a bit. It's not like in some leagues where a guy close to the turn makes a pick and then disappears even though the wheel guy makes his two picks within 5 minutes. We see that too often.
I guess if the #2 slot manager had told us all he'd be away from 6pm-10pm ET it's 'possible' that Corleone could have also made plans and been out having fun (50 Shades of Grey movie?) and not been making his pick until after the Jansen news came out.
I agree with the poster who pointed out Chapman's stat line despite missing time, probably more time than Jansen will miss.
So, does the Dodgers GM go crazy and deal for Papelbon now?
That would be insane.

Interesting situation with K-Rod and Soriano. Both represented by Boras. Both are kind of the same guy and looking for similar landing spots. I would love to hear the conversations between Boras and the GMs in Toronto, Milwaukee, Miami, Dodgers, and wherever else these two are rumored to be going. Depending on what happens.....this is where the early DC drafters could have a big advantage on the closer stats versus later drafters. Did you know that K-Rod is 33 and Soriano is 35? I would have surely pegged K-Rod to be older.

And this is why I laugh at anyone who complains about people taking their time in Slow drafts. Big money on the line, and people should rush their pick when they don't have to? Then you have something like this happen and it's "ah shucks, sucks for you"

It's called sportsmanship ... that's a funny concept for you? If the majority of people don't make timely picks (meaning pick when you can get to a computer) the contest does not exist.
The timing of news is random, if you were faster in round 24 you might be on the clock in round 25 when that news hits. People that piss off an entire league looking for a minuscule edge should not be playing the NFBC because they are lacking the sportsmanship (and in most cases the skills) to compete.

The timing of news is random, if you were faster in round 24 you might be on the clock in round 25 when news hits that's good for you. People that piss off an entire league looking for a minuscule edge should not be playing in the NFBC to begin with because they don't have the skills or the sportsmanship.
Right on the money with this comment KJ.
I shouldn't be, but I'm always amazed at how people seem to live in a vacuum of their own world..........

I'm curious, what's the NFBC stance on you asking to change your pick since the next drafter hadn't picked yet? Once you heard the news you could have said "I didn't want Jansen" couldn't you? It's not the sort of thing most of us would do but I'm just curious what's the "rule" since the next guy hadn't picked yet.

See above. Sportsmanship. Only a punk would ask to do that.
Picks are sometimes rolled back because of technical errors. "I changed my mind" is not such an error, and it would be awfully obvious if someone claims they made a mistake right after news hits.

People are going to make timely picks because they feel they need to rush through the draft anyway. so that argument is baseless. It's also February 18th, drafts will get done.
And a minuscule edge? The guy who drafted Jensen is all but done in winning at least the top prize.

What makes them a punk? Because they were courteous enough to draft quickly?

I make timely picks because it is the intent and nature of the contest to do so and I don't want to keep people waiting who signed up to make picks rather than stare at a static draft board, not for any "need to rush" whateverTF that means anyway.
Jansen owner out of it ... that is a clueless statement. One only has to look at past season's drafts to see the frequency of wasted top 10 draft picks for eventual money winners to refute this. Likewise, the minuscule element refers to 1 in 15 chance of it landing on you at the right time and the edge gained by stretching out your draft time each time around the board.

You dont have to stare at a static draft board, it's called email notifications.

Buyer's remorse is something you live with, not something for which the league is responsible for bailing you out of. There is a very clear pattern emerging around all of your comments, and they all have to do with feeling no responsibility to anyone but yourself. A sad point of view for an adult.
