The injuries have already started!

Post by mlbbug » Mon Apr 06, 2015 5:42 pm

Ryan Braun was removed from the game today with what appears to be a strained ribcage muscle injury. No indication as of yet as to the extent of his injury . Everybody was worried about how he would rebound after last year's thumb injury and the now this :o . Not good news for Braun owners  and not a good day for the Brew Crew who got pounded by the Rockies today 10-0.

Matt Cain with forearm soreness. Doesn't sound promising

We may have to lobby Tom and Greg for a DL slot next year. Tough to carry guys on reserve that are on DL, especially as the year deepens and injuries mount up. Last year there were many times that my reserve slots looked like a MASH unit  .

J. Mejia with the dreaded "tightness" warming up for the Mets today...

Anybody want to take over and manage my team? I've already had enough and it just started. Benoit, now Cain! I don't even have it in me to pay attention and care all season at this point. I'm a veteran that's just had enough.

A closer and a mediocre starting pitcher ... you can easily manage around those things.

Wow, the DL Petition is already out? It's a marathon everyone, it's a marathon!! Hang in there.

We aren't adding DL spots in the NFBC. Roster management is a major part of the battle. How you manage those 7 reserve spots is as much a part of the skill of this contest as managing those 23 starting spots. Hang in there and keep battling for every single hit, run, stolen base, win, save, etc. The fun is just beginning!! :D

.

As a newcomer to NFBC it always seemed to me like the 6th and 7th bench spots were basically like the two DL slots many "other" site have in addition to the five man bench.

I suppose if changes were made there would be people looking for even more DL slots. I support the traditional rules. So long as we all face the same risks it is fair to everyone.

Them's the breaks.

Deadheadz is correct.

This isn't football where I could maybe understand the early frustration.
We've played ONE game of a 6 month season.
And please, no more calls to water down the rosters. This is supposed to be the best of the high stakes leagues. It ought to be somewhat challenging.

You are right, Greg. Just a knee jerk reaction to players going down with injuries on basically the first full day of the season.

Probably got his first and last save of the season on opening day :(

So, today is the third day of baseball season and the following closers already are down and out since Sunday:

1. Benoit - lost job due to Kimbrel trade
2. Mejia - injured
3. Nathan - injured

Quite the start of the season. Can't wait to see what tomorrow (or tonight) will bring.

People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Saw that. Boy, it sure did not take long. OK, so if we skip the single Sunday game, we've had four days of baseball and four closers currently are out of a job since the season started: Benoit, Mejia, Nathan and Cecil. Can hardly wait to see what this weekend brings.

Probably Betances too, although he was never officially anointed as the closer.

Hawkins blew a save already. Just think, we haven't even seen too many blown saves yet either. Just wait until all that rolls around. Lol. Oh no Bob, a single, walk, and another walk, and Marmol is in trouble here with no outs. Just have to think he's got to turn this around eventually. This could be his 4th blown save in a row. Nightmare flashbacks of the past.

Looks like the Rangers will continue last year's as ML's leader of DL days.

They started the year putting Scheppers, Bonilla, Fujikawa, and Darvish on the DL

Today they had to remove Derek Holland with a shoulder injury after one inning and took out Shin-Soo Choo in the second inning with back spasms
