Betancourt to close in COL?

Rockies MGR. Walt Weiss has " temporarily" removed LaTroy Hawkins from closer role after 2 blown saves and 5 ER in 2.3 IP. He has indicated that any saves in the near future would go to Rafael Betancourt
, who did not pitch in 2014, instead of the expected closer -in-waiting Adam Ottavino
. Although Betancourt did close 31 games for Rockies back in 2012 it was widely expected that the younger Ottavino, who has clearly displayed closers skills with 70/16 K/BB in 65 IP last year and 7/1 K/BB so far in 4.1 IP this year, would get the closer role if/when Hawkins coughed it up this year.Apparently Weiss puts more stock in Betancourt's previous experience over Ottavino's superior skills. Oh well, so much for drafting skills and not roles.
Just one more reason why I HATE CLOSERS

Why? Betancourt I think had a good spring, has previous closing experience, and pitched good toward the end of last year. I might be wrong on some of this, but it wasn't a major surprise. Just by the previous closer experience alone it was a good possibility.

I missed him in my main event due to his inability to spell his own name right
Ottavino was owned and with Axford off to look after his son I thought he might have a chance. I typed Bethancourt into the available free agent pool and got no result so assumed he was owned.

Well that didn't last very long. Adam Ottavino has now been named as new closer. So much for the reign of Betancourt as COL closer
.Maybe Weiss finally recognized that he was the most skilled RP in that 'pen.

Betancourt was never the closer nor was he ever going to be. Ottavino was simply unavailable to pitch Monday.
