Yordano Ventura
Yordano Ventura
I think this boy may be LOCO. Similar to many who felt Billy Hamilton would single-handedly carry the SB category last year, if "CRAZY" were a rotisserie category, Yordana would single-handedly bring 15 points. Strike that. Chris Hughes would be a 15, but Yordana would be close at his heels.
I'll show myself out. Thank you.

Re: Yordano Ventura
Not sure what his deal is. Royals broadcast mentioned that Eaton said something first but were not going to show it as kids are watching and was easy lip reading. Ventura acting like a macho man fielding the grounder and staring at him probably had something to do with Eaton's words. I would like to see Cain and Samardja find a back alley. Wouldn't end well for Samardjza.

Glad I was watching Royals broadcast. Hawk is a homer idiot moronic douche.

Let's leave it for Mayweather/Pac-man! Although, Mayweather waited until Pac-man was passed his prime to fight him.Cocktails and Dreams wrote:Not sure what his deal is. Ventura v. Lawrie? My money is on Lawrie.

I see stuff like this and just laugh. Hawk is a Homer. An unabashed homer.
Sometimes it is easier to listen to him than Rockies, Braves or your Royals broadcasters who do their 'homerisms' through cheerleading or multiplying the skills of home players to their fans.
Almost every broadcasting crew homers.
The best crews like the Mets, Giants, and Vin Scully broadcast with truth first and homerisms second.
I can listen to Hawk, knowing what I am going to get when turning up the volume. I can listen because his partner Steve Stone is such a good analyst. Sometimes I can tune Hawk out and listen to the nuggets that Stone has to offer.
What I cannot listen to at all are Rockies, Braves, and Royals type broadcasters.
If taking them at their word, their clubs hardly do anything wrong. Cheerleaders are worse than homers.
Here is an excerpt from a broadcast from the Rockies. Keep in mind that Yasiel Puig made a wonderful, wonderful catch.
Play by play-
'Tulo hits a shot! Deep to right center field!
And Yasiel Puig makes a fine catch.
Tulo really hit that ball hard!
Analyst-
That just shows what a great hitter Tulo is. Hitting a ball that hard and that far to the opposite field. It's part of what makes him one of the best shortstops to ever play this game.
Play by play-
And don't forget the job he does at shortstop.
I have yet to see somebody with a better arm.
A GREAT BASEBALL PLAY WAS MADE! I don't care about Tulo. I want to hear more about the catch, but these guys don't get it, like other broadcasters.
I would much rather have Hawk say 'DADGUMMIT' and be miserable than extolling the virtues of the player who hit the ball.
A lot of fans get used to the 'homerism' from their own broadcasting booth. To me, the Royals are one of the worst.
Especially, the tv crew.
That all being said, I love watching the Royals this year (with the sound muted)
That team plays like they are in a kickboxing match.
They have a fire that I haven't seen in a long time from a team.
Great to see in a time where comraderie among baseball players is at an all time high.

You want to know real pain? Despite living 2.5 hours from Atlanta, I am considered in their TV region, therefore opposing broadcasts are blacked out. Braves have the absolute worst announcers in the game. The only thing that saves me is the Braves really are not worth watching on any given night.

I feel your pain. I live four hours from Coors and are still in their region.knuckleheads wrote:You want to know real pain? With all the technolgy of getting any game we want, why do we still even have these 'regions' ?
Must have something to do with $$$

Ryan Lefebvre is very good. Knows the game well. However, when Steve Physioc is manning the booth, it is a a bit rough. Very boring. Hudler is brutal. He is acquired taste type guy that I don't think I will ever acquire the taste for.
As far as laughing at me calling Hawk an idiot homer. You are a complete idiot homer if you say that Yost should have his tail kicked if he was saying anything to Sale but to get out of the fray. It was obvious to anyone with a clue, that Yost was trying to calm Sale down. Not that idiot homer though.

I knew Hawk would see everything as if broadcasting from the White Sox dugout.
I don't even listen to what he says when it's an 'Us vs. Them' situation. Way too bias to take seriously.
At the same time, Royals broadcasters were giving Ventura every benefit of every doubt themselves.
There are hardly any broadcasters that see things without a slanted view.
They have to mingle with these players on a daily basis.
The visiting players will leave and don't care what the other teams announcer's opinions are. But, they do care about the home town announcer and any discouraging words from them are brought to their attention.
And you're right about Hudler. If listening to him, you'd think the Royals burped Twinkies and shit Moon Pies.

Future baseball announcer. For the sake of the boards, I will let the shitting moonpies reference pass....

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

When I lived in Vegas, a scant 270 miles from the nearest MLB stadium, my home teams were the Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Giants, A's and DBacks. Fully 20% of the teams in MLB.DOUGHBOYS wrote:I feel your pain. I live four hours from Coors and are still in their region.knuckleheads wrote:You want to know real pain? Re: Yordano Ventura
Nah, to suggest the Royals broadcast was in any way similar to the White Sox broadcast would not be correct. Royals were pretty hard on Ventura, even though Eaton jawed first. He didn't like getting quick pitched, even though he was slow rolling Ventura in the box. So he said something after tapping out. And then we saw what Ventura said back.DOUGHBOYS wrote:When a fight breaks out on the field, it is a way I test broadcasters.Cocktails and Dreams wrote:Ryan Lefebvre is very good. What is interesting is that Sale came looking for more trying to get in the Royals clubhouse in the 8th inning after getting kicked out. I wish someone would have let him in and beat the shit out of him. What kind of moron does that? Hawk probably thinks it is a good idea, just like he thought Samardjza making a fool of him self was a good idea.
