I've always watched a lot of baseball, but this is the first year I've sprung for the MLB Extra Innings package. Totally addicting, but I have a question. My favorite channel is the MLB Mix, where I can have up to eight games on the screen at once (with the ability to choose which game to listen to at any time). Although the MLB Extra Innings package includes all the games where I live, for some reason the Dodgers games are never shown on the MLB Mix channel and I have no idea why. Anybody know what the story is behind this? Every other team seems to have its games shown on the channel. Thanks.

Time Warner has the rights to all dodger games and direct tv would not pony up the money they wanted. In LA it is impossible to even see the Dodgers without Time Warner. MLB TV even blacks it out.

I can watch Dodger broadcasts on DirecTV.

Not necessarily true, because we get the Dodger games on the MLB Extra Innings ( I have DirecTV). Dodger games are never shown on the game mix channel because Dodger games are not shown locally in LA and thus they can't give the LA market the broadcast window through the Game Mix channel. Agree, I love the game mix channel. Also, the Strike Zone channel (719 on DirecTV) on Tuesdays & Fridays is the shit.

I used to have an issue with the YES network for Yankees broadcasts in the Carolinas. Probably a market thing, but DIrectv will tell you that the control falls on MLB. No need to call.. It will get no where trust me. Just wait until ALL Saturday night 7pm broadcasts are blacked out. That sucks.

Yes, I mis stated, they have the rights in LA and if it's part of the game mix the LA market could see it. The LA market gets nothing from direct tv on the Dodgers., the rest of the country does. Sorry for the confusion

Thanks guys. I thought it might be some blackout issue, but I couldn't figure out how or why I can watch any Dodgers game, but just not on the MLB Mix channel. Doesn't seem to make sense, but I guess folks in L.A. can't get the Dodgers games and God forbid they see them on an eighth of the screen. I'll have to check out that program on DirecTV channel 719 - my TV hasn't left channel 720 all that often since April! I appreciate the quick responses.

Without 'gaming the system' this programming isn't available in Canada.

So envious.
MTB.tv will suffice for now. It's great to have the audio feeds for all games home and away included. I'm on the road enough that streaming MLB games through my iPhone works out well if the work truck has no XM subscription.

Not to rub it in, but I have to say that the MLB Extra Innings package is so addictive that I am kicking myself for waiting so long to subscribe to it. For serious fantasy players, it is awesome. Highly recommended.

Living in New York, I ordinarily have access to a pretty fair amount of baseball on TV. All of the Yankees and Mets games are broadcast, and there usually are lots of games on the MLB channel and an occasional game on Fox (not to mention the odd game here or there that you can find on some other channel). But getting every game through the Extra Innings package definitely is better. (I guess where I live, there are no blackouts.) Plus, being able to see eight games at once on the MLB Mix channel, with the ability to select which game's volume is turned on, is extremely addicting. If I am just relaxing watching the games, I literally can sit there for hours, watching all eight games and rotating the volume from game to game depending on whether and when one of "my guys" is pitching or hitting. (It also gives you an opportunity to "sample" each team's local announcers. There are some good ones and some really annoying ones.)

I'm surprised this package is not available in Canada. I hope it becomes available to you soon.

I'm enjoying Extra Innings much more since I loved to beautiful Colorado. When I lived in Las Vegas, all the California teams and Arizona were regarded as my home teams and blacked out. Fully 20% of the league and the closest ballpark was 300 miles away.

I really don't have a favorite team, but I do find myself listening to the Dodgers whenever Vin Scully is behind the microphone. I grew up on his voice and I don't want to miss any opportunities to hear him.

My favorite part of the Extra Innings package is watching the ninth of any game in which my closer is pitching. Living in Colorado, I find myself drafting more West Coast closers so I can watch them live. This year, I've been DVRing the Mets games, which are on 5-8 MST, so I can watch them later without the commercials and when my kids are asleep. That way I can also fast forward the lame parts, which is pretty much any time the Mets are hitting (except for Colon or Syndergaard) or whenever Niese is pitching...

While I'm obviously a Yankees fan, in terms of announcers, I'd have to go with Scully, the Giants announcers, and, as much as it pains me, the Mets announcers, as some of the best. There are some others that are really good that I'm sure I'm leaving out. Anyway, if you are into fantasy baseball and real baseball, and are on the fence about whether to spring for the Extra Innings package, I would say that I love it and regret not buying it before this season.
