Position Eligibility

(as per the NFBC player page)

Joey Gallo - before Saturday games

3B - 15
LF - 7
CF - 0

Joey Gallo - after Saturday games

3B - 15
LF - 8
CF - 1

So if he plays any OF time later today it seems he will gain OF eligibility, right? Playing 2 different OF positions in one game gives double credit toward OF designation? If that's wrong then I'm wondering why we're seeing LF/CF/RF rather than just OF.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I'm actually hoping that Gallo will be able to fill an OF slot for me starting Monday since I'm taking a zero there right now. I'm just trying to get some clarity on how/why a player can go from 7 to 9 games at OF in one day without playing a double-header.

Gallo has played 8 OF games prior to today.

That's how I see it too, KJ. But when you see 8 LF & 1 CF for any other player - maybe a bench bat - you'd likely assume he's got nine games at OF.

I'm waiting with anticipation to see if the system grants him the position by Monday morning or not til after the next start.

I don't know where CBS gets their numbers but they showed 9 OF before play today. There's gotta be a bug in the algorithm somewhere that's led to this.

He could have easily had a game where he moved from 3B to LF, so played LF in that game too

Gallo had 7 games at OF after Friday games. He played LF then was moved to CF in the Saturday game.

After playing LF on Sunday, he's now listed as OF eligible here at NFBC.
Apparently playing two different OF positions in one game does count for double service at OF.

Probably moot in the case of Gallo for now since he's going to lose time to Hamilton and DeShields once they come off the DL. Hearing he may get sent down as early as Monday.
