Meet the Matz

Mets rookie left-hander Steven Matz has apparently suffered a significant lat muscle injury, that could sideline him for several weeks, the New York Daily News reports.
Meanwhile it was known that he was dealing with a lat issue after his first start. As a franchise, wouldn't you skip this talent at least one start? How about when you even have the luxury of a 6 man rotation then the All Star Break. Nope! Not the Mets
Who thinks he's back in 3 weeks?
PS- Yes I own him. Just bought him on Sunday

I feel much better. I just read that the Mets believe it's not serious.

If I remember right (I may not), Roy Halladay had a STRAINED lat and missed six or seven weeks.
This is not good, no matter how the Mets portray it (again).
The Mets are a piece of work.

The Mets are the worst when it comes to discussing player injuries. A number of teams fail to disclose injuries. But, I cannot recall any team that consistently has been so off base between what they say and what follows. Not sure if it is willful deceit or medical incompetence, but they sure look bad when things turn out very different from their prior statements. We'll see if/when Matz makes it back.

James Paxton missed 4 months last year with Strained Lat. I'm going to guess we see him next in Port St. Lucie in February.

James Paxton could miss eight weeks stubbing his toe.

There are no shortage of horribly run franchises in MLB. Miami, Colorado and Arizona have absolutely disgraceful front offices, but the Mets are truly in a class by themselves.

to review: he will not THROW for 3 weeks. then 2-4 weeks to rehab. minimum 6 weeks. PLUS this is the mets. when wright went down- he was going to be back in 2 weeks with MINOR hamstring issue- in Canada now seeking treatment and hiding from all mets doctors. Murphy= "out 2 -3 weeks tops" said the mets- plus FOUR times the manager or gm said he was coming back - but he wasn't. out 5 weeks. so- odds of back in 3- the same as jarod working again for subway. 6 weeks- 25%, for the year= 50, surgery of some sort and out this year and next 24%, death 1%. PS- we have a good player in Chicago that bids on free agents like Edward Kings on a budget. 5 bucks is a huge bid for him- he had like 800 bucks left 2 weeks ago and bid $175 maybe more on matz. I fear he may need to be put on suicide watch. I will be sure to check and see if he makes moves in the next day or so, otherwise we may need to send someone to his house to check on him.
