Nothing left to play for?

We've heard time and again how it's nonsense that winning the Home Run Derby saps the power of the winner each year. Noticeable dips came from Abreu (2005), Howard (2006) and others after they were champions of the HRD. Even Josh Hamilton seemed to be worn out by the sheer volume of dingers he mashed in the year he didn't win, 2008.

But when you combine that 'curse' with Cincinnati selling off any hope of a meaningful season after the AllStar break, our first half gem Todd Frazier seemingly now has nothing to play for.

In the past 15 days he's had just 5 hits in 49 PA, only 3 walks for a dreadful .154 OBP and scored barely 2 runs and 1 RBI.

Frazier got the day off Sunday, to clear his head we're told.

His fantasy owners are hoping that and a visit to Petco Park and the equally unimpressive San Diego Padres will help him bust out of this slump. But if the curse of the Home Run Derby is more fact that fiction, those owners may be better served to bench the AllStar until his production shows up in the box score once again.

Nah. Frazier should be cut. If he became available as a FA, I certainly would not bid on him. yeah...yeah...that's the ticket!
