Greg, is there something that can be done? At this point, threads are pretty easily detected.

I wouldn't want to get to a point there where we have to fish through a bunch of them or they start popping up in the middle of other threads.

I guess it's the price you pay for building a popular league.

Or are you and Tom branching out into new market streams? :D After all, there are more than a handful of perverts on these boards!!! :D

Yeah, this really sucks. We closed off new registrations on the message board to prevent this and it worked for the last month. I turned it back on yesterday because obviously I want as many good baseball MB people as possible, but it's obvious that some spammer has us automatically pegged with constant spams as they sign up as new members each time. I'll close that out again and try to figure out a way to get every NFBC member signed up on the boards myself. I don't have the time to do that, but right now that seems like the only solution.

Sorry everyone. I've asked STATS to close out the register link and I trust they'll help me in the next day or two.

For the record Greg, you are not alone. I delete at least ten threads a day over at Mastersball. What we have is a bunch of very clever bots that can automatically register and post. We have found a bunch of these all emanate from a certain region on the globe, so we restricted access from that region, but it is the best we can do. We are currently working with the forum software provider to upgrade security. Unfortunately, that is what it boils down to, the available security provided by your forum software.

I've seen some sites where there is a drop down box when you sign up saying "Is this spam?" and it is set to yes so it won't go through unless the person manually pushes on the dropdown box and selects 'No.'

You can also direct the person to manually type in a code word that changes every time when a new person signs up.

Just some suggestions.

Thank you, Greg. I don't want you to lose out on any business or anything, just don't want to accidentally click on something I shouldn't when I'm at work.

Okay, spam should be solved for now. Sorry again.
