Ranking Methodology
(1) For each NFBC season, any team scoring above the average overall score (rounded to the nearest percentage point) accumulates points equal to its percentage above the average. For example, if the league average is 1000 points and a team scores 1200 points, that player scored 20 percentage points (200/1000) above the average and is awarded 20 points. Teams scoring below the average points score zero.
(2) Points are weighted to give slightly higher value to more recent years; each season's point total is increased 10% over the prior season. Recent results are weighted such that the rankings remain both current and relevant because as players become more experienced the game and/or degree of difficulty may change.
(3) Next, each player's career points are totaled and divided by an index equal to the sum of the weighted number of years for the contest. For example, after two seasons the index would be 2.1 (1.0 for the first season and 1.1 for the second season).
(4) Finally, one hundred points is added to each player's total points to reflect the equivalent annual points scored above average. For example, a score of 120 would indicate that a player scored on average 120% of the league average points per season over the history of the NFBC (adjusted for the year weightings).
(5) If teams are actively managed by one or more partners, those partners will be ranked together on the list as a team. Financial (only) partners are not listed in cases where that is known. If players have accumulated points both individually and as a partner in different seasons or with different teams, they will be ranked twice - once in the partnership with the correspondiong accumulated points, and individually, reflecting their cumulative individual points plus one-half of their partnership points.
