what is a "sleeper" ? Back in the day, sleeper meant a player who had been dormant throughout his career or was not well known among the baseball community. During the last week on different sites I've seen Randy Johnson, Barry Bonds, and even ARod called sleepers. It is an overused term and should be shelved. [/QUOTE]agreed Doughboys, fantasy baseball is growing up and needs some new terms ... how about calling these guys trippers instead?

Terrible, Risky or Injury-Prone Players Expected to Rebound ;)

Wes Helms, Barry Bonds, Randy Johnson, that's a good start

I joked at the first question because it doesn't mean anything. A sleeper is simply a guy whose real value is far better than the round he was drafted in. We speculate on who is a sleeper every year, but we don't really know until the end of the year. I'm aware that Shandler or whoever said it doesn't mean anything but that's just him being his blowhardy self. There are tons of players who have the above differential every year. Owners do not all have the same info, as was speculated when the term was first considered obsolete. If you're looking around and you think everyone in the room knows what you know then you don't know much.

But, then, I guess I am just an old-fashioned curmudgeon.
