Just curious? Is there any reason the draft can not be held in Vegas? Weather or not in is legal in Nevada or not. Drafting is not illegal there, playing is. Reserve the space, and draft. What would be the difference if 12 guys got together there and drafted or 100 get together there and draft?

Honestly, I would be very surprised if there are any live drafts in Vegas next year, at least not in a casino hotel.

The casino industry is partially behind the push to "ban/regulate/licence" the DFS game. Even if we know our game is different than theirs, I can't imagine the casinos would want to do anything that would promote fantasy leagues in any fashion if they aren't running it.

I also remember the way the casino's rolled-over to the NFL in the blink of an eye when it came to Superbowl parties. One minute they all had parties scheduled, and the next minute they didn't.
They are not interested in doing anything that puts them in jeopardy.
Hosting Live high dollar leagues might not suit their taste at this time.

Just my opinion, but if I were you guys, I'd be booking my flight to Chicago now

I certainly hope this all is all just noise...I booked my flight/hotel on a discount (this time smart enough to put a travel insurance rider on) and will switch it to accommodate my Feb marathon if necessary.

This is EXACTLY the point. As of now, there is absolutely no way that the casinos are going to allow an entity that bills itself as "The National Fantasy Baseball Championship" and the "Only High Stakes Season Long Fantasy Baseball Competition", etc. to be hosted by a casino hotel in Nevada. That being said, there hopefully is a full force effort being made at the moment before it is too late to simply move these events to a convention center in Vegas where no one is going to give a crap about us, which seems to be the tact Greg is taking with the NYC events.

So what's the most current word on all of this, Greg?

I work for a 5 star hotel in Houston (get with me if ever need a place to stay on a buisness trip ) I'd place a main event team bet that Vegas will not care if we have drafts there. This is how the hotel industry works in sales of their conference rooms. As long as you aren't doing anything like starting a fire or killing people, or interfering with the people around your conference room, they really could care less on what goes on in them. We go as so much as to hide company names sometimes (oil companies that just laid off people that don't want their name on anything bc are paying us tons of money to host). The hotel's main purpose is to make money and have the conference rooms full every day of the year if possible. Now whether or not there is space because they don't have room is another story, but it won't be because of the DFS bullshit. I can see the runaway train starting to pull out again because of impatience so at the least I'll try to give an insiders view of the hotel industry. If you really wanted to push this, I have come contacts at MGM I could ask to confirm everything else I've already said above.

Mike, if anything that hotel could just post Baseballconference on the door and tell Greg he can't put his signs up (which I doubt they do) if they really were trying to hide it. But they won't push money out the door for the space...

This would be great info to have, but I have to believe that a casino hotel in Nevada works a little differently than a hotel in Houston, Texas. They aren't going to risk it if the Nevada Gaming Commission says no fucking way.

Well I did put that main event team bet down? Uh oh illegal Internet gambling now! The Feds will be after me!!!

We will be in Las Vegas for both weekends and on the Strip. Common sense has finally prevailed. More details to come once we have finalized contracts.
