The 5th Annual, 2016 MTM LIVE NY Super Event Thread

Post by Baseball Furies » Sun Dec 06, 2015 9:51 pm

Yes ladies and gentlemen, it's that time of year again. Is it the time of year that Tom begins booking his reservations for the Bunny Ranch? Or perhaps the time of year that he is putting the final touches on his holiday column for Cat Fantasy...er Fancy Magazine? Or maybe you're thinking it's that time of year when Greg begins his ingenious mass marketing campaign to flood the NFBC with new tons of new business and while creating innovative new contests with bigger prizes, and rolling out state-of-the-art software that has been in development since the end of the last baseball season, while working on creating and hosting the most entertaining and exciting live events in the fantasy industry with Ritz Carlton-like service? Okay, I'll give you a hint: Only two of the preceding statements are true. That make it any easier for you?

Image
You think that this is funny, Massotto, you asshole?! You'll pay...someday Greg is going to make you pay for embarrassing me and Mr. Toodles like this.

No, believe it or not, another season of the MTM Live NY Super Event and all its glory is soon to be upon us once again. Being the premiere event in NY, if not the entire NFBC, it has already sold out...and even if it doesn't remain sold out, there is a waiting list to have it again be sold out. So if you snoozed, you losed or something like that. Believe me, if this could have been turned into a 20-team league instead, Greg would have tried it already, and with a smaller payout... and sometime next December.

That being said, this year promises to be better than ever. Why, you may ask? Because I fucking said so, that's why! ;) The usual cast of characters will be back this season, with a few virgins new to the league this season...and we all know what Lisa Ann does when she gets a hold of a virgin, and it aint tea and scones. I may have to implement the five foot rule this year since she's probably just now drying off from all of Duponte's and Bachner's saliva from last April. :P

One charter member of the league who will not be returning, and who saw his last season end with yet another humiliating and sub-par finish, is Steve Juprinka. The once Golden Boy of the NFBC has finally bowed out after realizing that it's one thing to beat a bunch of stiffs in your standard, run-of-the-mill Main Event league to win a few titles or to pay a hired gun to win an Auction Championship, but winning a league title against the likes of a former champion like me and others in this league is just a whole other ball of wax. It looks like it may be time for the glue factory for this once Thoroughbred, now washed up and put out to pasture. :P

Image
In this photo: Juprinka on a recent family outing

We will all miss Steve and forge ahead sadly without him and his annual donation to the league. However, there is still plenty to look forward to. Highlights of the evening include:

 Adam Ronis of the SiriusXm Fantasy Radio and the RotoExperts in the morning show will be back to lend his superior, celebrity draft facilitation skills again this year. Joining him will be his lovely and enchantingly slutty ex-porn celebrity assistant, Lisa Ann, who does a fine job pretending to be a fantasy analyst on the radio when she is not naked or near naked in the baseball off-season. I am in talks with her to do the draft at least topless throughout the entire thing...or bottomless, her choice. We're not picky in this league. After all, we let Kent Stermon back in again for some reason for 2016, and I have no idea how the fuck that happened.

 There will again be the famous "Iron Balls" KDS draw right before the start of the draft when draft positions are decided live and on the spot just like they should be for all true pros of this game. So again there will be the bucket of baseballs with each individual competitor's name on them which Lisa Ann will be doing the honors of drawing. I must say, she did an excellent job with everyone's balls last year. Alright, so it was a bad goddamn pun. So what. It worked. For those of you living under a rock, below is one of the few photos that I can post on here of Lisa Ann to refresh your memories.

Image

In posting this, I just realized that somewhere in a secluded barn on a pig farm in Greencreek, Idaho, I just gave an old guy a woody.  But I digress...

There will be the awarding of the prestigious MTM 2015 Super League Champion Trophy to our newly crowned champion, Andre Bourcier. Andre took down the title last year by a margin of five points 112-107 over second place finisher, Scott "The Carrier" Fleming. Scott managed to somehow make it into the city and draft last year despite having a moderate to severe case of the Black Death from the way he looked. Even though we all thought his picks through the first several rounds reflected his delusional state, he fooled us all by finishing strong down the stretch and nearly taking down the league title himself, but in the end, Andre's squad was just too strong. It was a hard fought league all year long with several competitors at times actually occupying sole possession of first place, including yours truly as late as September 1st, but it was simply not meant to be a second title for me last season...as much as I would have loved to milk a ton of mileage out of it if I did.

 There will also of course be a host of other personal touches and perks that I will be adding as usual to spice up the evening's festivities even more, as if they needed anymore spicing. But hey, that's just the kind of fun-loving, fucking guy that I am as Greg and Tom will attest to given how much fun I make their lives every year come baseball season

 And as always, everyone who would like to join us afterwards for the annual post-draft celebration of a late night steak dinner and beverages at Rosie O'Grady's is welcome. Bring your significant others if you think they can tolerate it as the trash-talking, draft analysis, and revelry begins around midnight. Reservations will be made for us in advance and I will be starting a separate thread for this in the near future.

Below is a list of this year's competitors as it now stands with the waiting list of alternates as I know it in order of right of first refusal starting with #16. If openings should happen or if someone drops, you will be notified by me directly in the order below to let me know if you're still interested in taking a spot in this amazing competition of some of the best players and best guys in the NFBC.

2) Dan Satinoff
3) Matt Modica
4) Larry Lensak

Edit made and will do, Mike. Hope something opens up for you. Either way, it looks like we will be spending some quality time with each other in the Thursday night Main Event if you're thinking about jumping into that one. I thought you were. 8-)

Not sure yet. I planned on doing three Main Events: NYC, Online and Vegas. If I do a 4th ME it'll depend on if I get in the Super.

Still no word back from our two tentatively returning alumni. I have reached out to them again, and I will post an update as soon as I hear back. So those of you on the standby list, keep standing by.

And now in typical gratuitous and blatantly sexist, non-politically correct, anti-feminist fashion as per the MTM Super tradition, here's the hot chick of the day:

Image

C'mon now, who doesn't appreciate a really bad pun now and then? ;) Okay, I'll make up for it with a few pics of really hot female non-poultry.

Just a quick update, John Lemke is officially in and will be returning for the 2016 Season of the MTM Super. Johnny is a charter member of the league, and actually a guy who once took candy from a baby which tells you the type of remorseless, stone-cold competitor that he is. Just waiting to hear back from Mike Edelman now with the standby guys standing by. More updates to come shortly.

Okay, it's been a while, but here's the latest on the competitors list for this league. I finally heard back from Mike Edelman who apparently requires a personal invitation each season (multiple fucking times :P ), but nonetheless, he's in. We are now officially at 15 of some of the best of the best the NFBC has to offer who will be competing this year in NYC for the prestigious title of the MTM Super League Champ. Below is the final list of 2016 competitors. If anyone drops, I have the list of alternates in order of right of first refusal. Looking forward to ringing in the New Year with more updates as we get closer to the season. 8-)

2) Dan Satinoff

It's January boys and girls, and the anticipation and pressure of the advent of 5th Annual MTM Super Event is building not unlike the sensation Lindy Hinkelman gets every night due to his prostate. But anyway, just to confirm, this competition is 100% sold out and there are no tentatives as of now.

I am again working on the behind the scenes extras as always to make it yet another memorable evening for all. There will also be the post-draft festivities at Rosie O'Grady's Pub and Steak House immediately afterwards, and all who are attending the live events in NYC that weekend are invited to join us for some late night food, drink, and revelry beginning around midnight or so. I will be posting a separate thread on this soon because I will need a head count for the restaurant as they keep their kitchen open late just for us.

More league news to come as things materialize, but I wanted to give this a bump.

And now, a photo of 2014 champion, Joe Thelen, at the celebration last year. The years may not have been too kind to him, but just look at the joy in the old geezer's face!

The crowning of the 2015 Champ out of Texas, Andre Bourcier, is next.

In this photo: The happy champion.

Did I mention that he was also a huge Dallas fan?

Also, for those of you who may not be from Texas, here's a map of the state which pretty sums it up. :P

Haven't posted anything in a while on this year's MTM Super, the premiere live high stakes event the NFBC has to offer on the east coast, so I thought I'd give this thread a little love it deserves. One bit of news is that I am making the push for Sirius to cover this draft when they are in NYC covering the NFBC. They are deciding on what they are going to do now, and I'll let everyone know if the MTM will be part of their coverage. Adam Ronis is pulling for us, so hopefully this goes down since this special league deserves the attention on air and will be a hell of a lot more entertaining than any of these so-called "expert" mock drafts that are aired. I'm sure Greg will be pulling for us with Sirius as well because he agrees with me wholeheartedly, right Greg? Greg? Why do I get the feeling that I lost Greg? More to come shortly. 8-)

You lost me?? Damn, you sure are a hard one to keep up with Mikey.

I'm talking with Matt Deutsch about this already, but having Ronis add in a good word doesn't hurt. They want to air our draft results before most people draft and doing Las Vegas on Second Weekend might be too late. I think it makes sense for them to air the Super in New York rather than the Platinum in Las Vegas because having live draft results a week before most people hold their local league drafts makes the most sense. I don't know if they'll do that because they have Friday shows, but getting them to air some coverage from the NFBC New York live drafts is on the radar rather than Vegas this year. We'll see how it goes.

I'm not sure how you lost me in this conversation but maybe it's because maybe we never had this conversation. Have no fear Mikey, I'm already ahead of you on this. Keep it rolling and hopefully it works out for everyone. With SiriusXM right there in New York, a lot of this makes sense.

Post by Baseball Furies » Thu Mar 03, 2016 12:32 am

Greetings fellow MTM'ers and all interested parties who have been tracking this thread. We are now just three short weeks away as of tomorrow from the premiere season-long fantasy baseball event on the east coast, the NFBC MTM Live Super Event! 8-) I am happy to report that the door prizes and other special extras have all been secured including a special, personalized gift from Lisa Ann herself for each participant of this league. And no, I'm not talking about blow jobs, so calm down Kessenich. Vegas is just around the corner for ya!

Unfortunately I am sad to report that Lisa Ann had to back out out this year due to a previous commitment...something about anal bleaching and a hot Carl, but I didn't want to pry. But I will be more than compensating for her absence, and I'm sure she'll return next year in all of her filthy, slutty, whorey glory...actually perhaps that was a bit rough even as a joke about her. Let me just go check on the internet for a sec...Okay, I'm back. On second thought, I stand by those words.

But I'm saving the best for last. The biggest news is that it looks like Sirius XM Radio will be covering this draft live on the air that night! Yes, it's still in the works, and Greg will of course be jumping on this thread momentarily to chastise me for letting the cat of the bag while taking full credit that it was all him who made this happen, but fine. My humble nature will allow me to step back and allow him to bask in the glory of this accomplishment whether he had anything to do with it or not. But it looks like finally there will be at least one true experts draft on the air this season, and it will be the MTM Super! 8-) And if you ask me, this should be an annual occurrence...just have to figure out a way to keep Deterra away from the hosts and the program director, or we're fucked.

Anyway, more updates and other good shit to come as it all develops. 8-)

Incredible that we are now just a one short week away from the 5th Annual MTM LIVE Super Event in NYC! I know that this is the highlight of everyone's weekend, and just to make it even better, I found out today that it looks like we are going to receive live coverage of this premiere event by Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio. 8-) Adam Ronis is committed to us, and will still be our draft facilitator for the evening, even though he was asked about doing the on air coverage himself. Talk about dedication! Gotta love Ronis. He's a class act.

All the preparation has been done, so now it's just a matter if time before we will be convening for this one and the festivities afterwards at Rosie O'Grady's. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon! 8-)

Okay, nice first night here in the Big Apple as some of us kicked things off last night with a Main Event, or as it is now being called, "The Destruction of Gekko." But today is the day for the big boys to go at it as the MTM Super is finally upon us! 8-) The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. with the live broadcast coverage on Sirius XM, so everyone get there early. They would like to interview a lot of us prior to the live "Iron Balls" KDS draw for which Adam Ronis will do the honors this year. It's going to be a blast as always, and looking forward to crowning last year's champ to kick things off in style. 8-) See everyone there! Can't Wait!

Thanks again. What an awesome league to be a part of. That was a top shelf event all-around. Best of luck this year.

Well, another amazing MTM Super live draft event is now in the books, and I wanted to jump on here to first acknowledge all the participants for really getting into the spirit of the festivities and making it one of the best MTM Super drafts we've ever had. 8-) The competition was as fierce as ever, and it will be very interesting to see how things turn out. I think all of the first time owners in this league were thoroughly convinced that this is THE league to be in year in and year out, and I have a feeling that next year the interest level for this event will be at an all time high.

The big news is that I am seriously considering bumping the MTM up to the Ultimate level for next season. I have had a lot of owners approach me inquiring about this, and it may be time to increase the league prize since it's only fitting for a league of this caliber and a group of owners who are equally worthy. More on this to come as I work on it for next year. :D

What made this year even more special was the live event coverage hosted by Sirius XM and Nando DiFino along with Tony Cincotta. They did an awesome job with it, and having now listened to the show, it is easily one of the most entertaining and fun four hours you'll ever hear on the radio covering fantasy baseball. I strongly suggest if you have Sirius to listen to the show. It's available on line and via the app now. If nothing else, I think it may be time for me to get an agent, because they must have mentioned my name 20 times or more throughout the coverage, and gave me a good 10 minutes prior to the event to set the stage with the history of the MTM Super and some great banter back and forth on a variety of topics. Nothing nothing but great PR and exposure for the NFBC and especially their higher stakes leagues with a bunch of great interviews with some of the participants throughout. I will be sitting down in Vegas with Greg and Tom to discuss a well-deserved raise which is long overdo. Anything over the zero total dollars per year I am making now is sure to be an improvement. :P

Some highlights of the evening included the live Iron Balls KDS draw when somehow my ball came out first and I very graciously accepted the #1 spot. ;)

The Sirius XM team all but crowning Gaetan Lavoie the 2016 league champ with their misguided obsession with his and his live proxy drafter's, Steve Juprinka's team. Juprinka's obvious secret counsel and annoying mock disinterest throughout while feeding Gaetan all of his picks was a devious mental game they played to a tee all night long.

The breaking news that that in no uncertain terms, Mookie Betts will be the AL MVP and a bona fide first overall pick by next year according to Jason "The Savant" Duponte. Love how that rhymes. I may have to make that one stick!

Joe Thelen's Alzheimer's kicking in at inopportune moments throughout the draft. Not only did he not know he was on the clock, but I think he may have forgotten his own name a couple of times. :P

Dan Satinoff and his co-owner's harsh realization afterwards that this draft may not have been the best idea to take on as a first testing of NFBC Super draft waters. Not sure, but I think I heard the words, "bitch-slapping" as he walked away.

And many more great stories from around the draft table and shared at the after party at Rosie O'Grady's when it was all over. Good times had by all. 8-)

Finally special thanks again to Adam Ronis of the RotoExperts for his expert draft facilitation which really enhanced the entire draft experience for everyone.

Good luck to all this year, and perhaps I will post the draft results after the events this weekend in Vegas for everyone's feedback. Looking forward to seeing many of you out there in a couple of days. 8-)
