The first fantasy baseball mag we typically see around where I live is the crappy Sporting News Fantasy Baseball rag. But I still find myself looking for it around mid-December though I am not sure I have ever seen it that early. It showed up at the local Publix this week.

I do not like the magazine, but I buy it. I guess just like when the tourists do not mind scraping bird shit of their cars in Capistrano.

Others have been drafting for some time now, but this is my beginning of spring training...

At the level this event participates, no mass audience mag will help, but I do feel I owe The Sporting News an apology. Unlike prior years, I actually find this one this year quite interesting. Maybe it is like a hungry dog salivating over an old, dried bone, but a couple of the articles were pretty good and the player write-ups more than the average bill of fare.

I buy a handful of magazines every year. As with other sources of research, you need to parse the useful information from the misinformation. I believe the vast amount of fantasy content on the internet has forced some of the magazines to raise their games in recent years.
