They are going to have a First Pitch Forum in Atlanta March 6, 2016 and I will be there, good Lord willing and the creek don't rise. Anyone else? Todd, are you doing these this year?

I can neither confirm nor deny my attendance in Houston, Atlanta, St Louis and Chicago. I'd like to do it, just depends on whether I can make it work.

Understood. If it works, I hope to see you there.
Anyone else coming?

I'm sure I'll check it out if they ever put Denver on the schedule.

I will bet against Denver ever being on their schedule - why not just grab a box of doritos and drive over and spend a day with Dan Kenyon

That sounds like a fine way to spend the afternoon. It's a five hour drive from Greeley to Grand Junction, but you won't find more beautiful natural scenery anywhere.

I'll be working Todd about this at the FSTA conference this week.
Confirmed for Atlanta: Ron Shandler and Brent Hershey, plus Jason Collette of "nearly as many sites as Zola" fame.
We're definitely excited to be trying some new cities this year (Houston and Atlanta) as well as returning to St. Louis for the first time in several years.

All right! Atlanta is as close as one of these has ever been to me.
For those of you that have attended one of these events before:
How is it? Anyone have any idea of the track record of these speakers correctly identifying their impact players?
Just trying to decide if it's worth the price for registration, other expenses, and my Sunday.

Mission accomplished - Ray has agreed to my terms (enough Diet Mountain Dew to get me through three hours). I'll be at all sites but Los Angeles.

Ha! Sorry, Perry, but no...not Santa Barbara. Now I have rarely seen anything more beautiful than the California coast, but, here in God's Country:
1) We play football like it means something (did anyone else notice that the Superbowl will feature two former SEC quarterbacks).
2) We have real BBQ (not like that crap they serve in Texas).
3) The women are beautiful (without running down to LA for a little augmentation) and do not mind the concept of a kegger.
4) The weather has seasons (mild seasons, but seasons).
5) Does not have anything like the San Andreas Fault. We only feel the earth move when we meet the perfect #3 above.
6) Despite what all those diet books they print in California say pretty much anything can be fried, eaten, and enjoyed.
7) Talking to complete strangers in public is not weird — in fact, it's just good manners.
8) Artificial sweetners will never replace the feeling of complete and utter satisfaction when successfully getting a big drop off the end of a honeysuckle and NEVER belong in iced tea.
9) Nowhere else in the country does biscuits better. And don't even get us started on chicken biscuits. Sometimes you dream about them.
10) I will grant you our affinity for seersucker is just a bit strange, but we will never give up our pick-up trucks even if Mama makes us wash them BEFORE heading out to Church.
Now I have never been to Iola, so I will reserve comment....

Seasons Wayne? Ummm, didn't your whole state shut down a couple years back when you had flurries?

Haha Wayne, because everyone goes to the ATL for BBQ.... I think more people only go to ATL because they are forced to go there for a connecting flight that will always be late!
We can let Todd have the final say. You get him some ATL BBQ and I'll get him some real TEXAS BBQ. After he throws up from your so called BBQ, he will have seconds of some real BBQ!

So, you say that like it is a bad thing.
Atlanta Weather Report: Snow Flurries. Up to 1/2 inch accumulation.
Emergency Response Plan: Shut down the City. Party at Wayne's house. Bring bread, milk, eggs, and BEER!

Todd is a man of class, distinction and discretion. How are you gonna get him to eat Texas road kill, get him drunk?
OK, if Todd has the time, it would be my pleasure to show him great BBQ.
Primer for the uninformed:
1) You can cook anything with a style called "BBQ", but BBQ is pork. No question.
2) Traditional woods for the best BBQ are oak, hickory and pecan. Mesquite need not apply.
3) Barbecue sauce is sweet and tart, but the base flavor is mustard, not ketchup, and the sweetness is cane sugar, not molasses. When warmed, it has enough pepper and kick to make you break a sweat on your upper lip. If you can get it, try "Johnny Harris Original BBQ Sauce". It is good on just about anything but only true connoisseurs' have it "on the rocks". Oh God, I am hungry.
4) BBQ is always pulled. Some like it sliced and some like it chopped. Some ought to have their heads examined.
5) Anything goes good with BBQ, but if you want the whole experience you need white bread or corn bread, collard greens, black eyed peas, and fried green tomatoes.
Oh hell, excuse me....I have to go wait for my favorite restaurant to open....

You're welcome Todd. I believe I just bought you a meal in Atlanta. Haha, okay maybe not my money, but you get the point.
My BBQ is smoked 24-48 hours, where it falls off the bone, doesn't even have to be pulled like yours. The sides come with some good sweet and moist cornbread, creamy Mac and cheese, homemade coleslaw, and green beans with bacon marinated in it. Not to mention homemade apple or pecan pie for dessert. But you know, not all of us have the privilege to eat that every day!
