Hearing about what happened to Schwarber last night reminds me of my thoughts on Sano this year. Does anyone believe an OF-playing Sano will make it through the year healthy? Playing out of position, learning the nuances as he goes.

Not a reflection on Sano, but Cub replay looks like Fowler was at fault. Schwarber got in position to make catch, not sure Fowler was ... his self-preservation instinct was good though, ducking under a freight train.

I totally agree. Isn't the center fielder supposed to take charge and call off the left fielder on that play? Instead, Fowler just ducked and did a chop block on Schwarber. I give Schwarber credit for trying to make the play. I have no idea what the hell Fowler was doing.

When both OFers are running full speed and reach ball at end of their path I'm not sure anyone is calling it ... but the first guy to reach the ball should be seen by the other since he is first to enter the path of where the other OFer's eye is going. Fowler seemed to see Schwarber and ducked at the last second, taking him out at the knees ... rather than get decapitated.

I wonder if anyone owns giles and schwarber on the same team?

I wonder what the Minnesota higher ups thought of the collision. At least one had to say he has to DH.

Sano ready tweaked his ankle chasing balls down in the spring. Seems like a matter of time until he gets hurt or demoted

Crowd noise probably swallowed up Fowler's call for the baseball. Although it is true Dexter was notorious for his lack of baseball sense when he played in Colorado.

I hope you don't lose to that guy, it would be embarrassing to get beat my someone with both bad luck and bad drafting.

MLB is reviewing the lunge by Dexter and a new rule may be coming soon I'm afraid!

It can be ruled a legal attempt at a catch if....

1.He begins his dive (i.e., makes contact with the ground) before reaching the ball
2.He is able and attempts to reach the ball with his hand or foot;
3.He is able and attempts to remain in the air (except LCF or RCF) after completion of the dive; and
4.He dives within reach of the ball without changing his pathway for the purpose of initiating contact with a fielder

If the fielder is deemed to have violated any of these conditions, then he and the other fielder will be called out for interference???

I do believe they will have to review this rule further!!!!

the new commish- in his endless quest to leave his mark on the game- has now proposed chalk lines for each outfield position. outfielders will no longer be allowed to cross those lines and all collisions will be avoided.
