4/10/16 - $$FAAB TARGETS$$

I just finished a preliminary look at free agents. Here are some interesting players (some of whom may be under the radar)...
Hunter Strickland - On Q, Santiago Casilla blew a save chance last night AND the Giants lost (very important to note). In the offseason there were rumors of Strickland taking over for Casilla the first half of 2016. Would anyone be surprised if Strickland was named the closer this coming week. Monster K rate in a pitcher's park is a recipe for success.
Micah Johnson - This one is under the radar. Carl Crawford went to the DL and LAD called up super speedster Micah Johnson to play the OF. KEEP IN MIND MICAH CURRENTLY HAS SWEET ASS ELIGIBILITY AT 2B!!!!! wE COULD BE LOOKING AT A 4-5 STEAL WEEK COMING UP FROM 2B SLOT.
Ross Stripling - Pitched 7 1/3 innings of NO-HIT BALL. He has 3 separate pitches that induce above average swings and misses. He wasn't highly touted entering the year due to coming back from TJS last year. It looks like something clicked. Man, 7 1/3 innings...NO HITS...sign me up!
Enjoy everyone

what a dick, as usual; yes, Gekko going to bid on Micah; Strickland already on teams who know anything; and a pitcher who happened to have a decent game; he doesn't bid on any of them

I wanted to bid on Micah Johnson. I evaluated all the free agents and he was my sleeper this week. Now his price just went up. Is this fair? ………. Just kidding. I need this entertainment now that American Idol is done.

Special Catcher Edition
For those of you who had Schwarber, Grandal and now Chirinos, top targets would be:
AJ Ellis - Who knows when Grandal will be back. Ellis is actually serviceable. 7HR in only 181AB last year. That's a pace of 21HR in 543AB. If you are a Grandal owner and whiffed on picking up a replacement, Ellis is your guy.
Bryan Holaday - Chirinos will be gone for 3-4 months or longer (ie DOA). There's a little know player backing him up in Bryan Holaday. This offseason/spring, Holaday underwent a resurrection and word on the street was MULTIPLE teams wanted to secure his catching services. Texas was able to sneak him away from Detriot. Texas knew about his resurrection after he stet a CAREER high OPS this spring 1.340. Blew every other year away.
3 doubles
1 triple
4 homers
12 rbi
.412 batting average
in only 34 AB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS - I own Holaday on multiple teams. Most importantly, he is one of my starting catchers in my $1,300 NFBC AL Auction team. He's good enough for me. You got to ask yourself, is he good enough for you.
Folks, some teams are going to get lapped in catcher production this year. DON'T LET IT BE YOU.
I'll also be interested in seeing if other owners will "block" the Schwarber, Grandal and Chirinos owners from picking up these catching goldmines.

I know it is a little early as he won't be in the pool until next week.......... But, how much does Mazara go for? $500-600? Better hold onto that cash, because the difference maker is about to hit the market!

Mr. Gekko
What do you think of Rickard and Tillman?

Richard (if available) would be my top OF FAAB. Leading off for Orioles now.
Tillman, I'm not a big fan, but I understand the love.
Hope this helps.

If Mazara wasn't drafted in your league then he's likely not showing up in your free agent pool. I'm getting a lot of questions about him today and here's the facts:
Per our rules: The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents each Sunday at 7 AM ET before the FAAB bidding deadline and a player must have played at least 1 MLB game to be added to the pool at that time. Once a minor-leaguer plays his first game in the majors, he remains in every NFBC FAAB pool whether he returns to the minors or not. Once in the majors, he remains in all FAAB pools.
He was activated today, but Mazara didn't play his first game until after the free agent pool was closed this morning, so he will be available in your league next week. Hope that helps.

I doubled my bid on your suggestion Gek, but will $2 be enough???

Mazara went for $813 in one of my OLC leagues. Runnerup bid was $401. I didn't think my $83 offering was going to get it done.

Mazara went for $555 in my Main Event league with a runner-up bid of $552. If you want him, don't expect that it will come cheap. I put in what I thought would be a competitive bid but did not come close to landing him. I wonder how much Sunday's great performance drove up the price, and whether - and to what extent - that performance is a sign of things to come. Should be fun to watch. Will also be curious to see what he goes for in most leagues this coming week.

Mike - I put in a healthy bid as well. Add another $400+ to my bid and I would have won him. LOL

Jody last night via text: I am gonna make you pay for Mazara
Andy: I wont win him...I bid less than half my FAAB for him
Jody: I bid more than that. I am gonna make someone pay then. I don't need him.
FAAB results in: Jody wins Mazara for $555
Jody: Oh well he will help me.
LOL
