Could it just be coincidence? Hmmm? Florida, Bonds and Ped's? Who is next?

Wow! I shouldn't be, but somehow this just shocked me. Total surprise. A lot of people will try to hold on to him, but how many will be able to afford going with only six other reserve spots for half a season.

I do not have him, but this just sucks (understatement of the day).

I can't help but enjoy when something like this happens to the Marlins. They run a franchise the complete wrong way, are not concerned with how to actually win in baseball and employ side shows like Mattingly and Bonds. Not that they''d have been competitive anytime soon anyway.

Wow, his owners have a big decision to make this FAAB period, right?

Either way, it is a big blow to them. Once rostered, most owners reckon that most of their speed is in the bank.
A real tough early season hit.

The real question is...will the NFBC allow him to be bid on in leagues he is dropped... If so, temper bidding this weekend

Given the circumstances, I don't think that is even a question.
It's the same as a three month injury for any second rounder.
Hopefully, Greg can comment to confirm....

Why wouldn't he be able to be bid on?

The NFBC reviews all players cut to ensure contest integrity. As doughy said, let's hope for a NFBC confirmation so people can plan this weekend's bidding appropriately.

I can't see anyone dropping him in a 15 team league.

I don't have a vote but I remember last year someone dropped Greg Holland last year really early and he was yanked from the player pool. Gordon is supposed to be coming back late July 60 games or so he could be a difference maker. If I was asked I would say make him ineligible to be picked up if he is dropped. Just my opinion.

I would drop him personally. No telling if the Marlins will play him even when he comes back. This also assumes he doesn't test positive again in the near future. Lots of risk with gordon. Cut him loose folks and free up a valuable roster spot for the next 3 months

Joe, this isn't the same.
Dropping a player for underperformance or a possible injury is different than a confirmed 80 days.

Hopefully, Greg confirms well before Sunday.

I just received this on good authority (my water delivery boy), "Dee Gordon will never again step on the field as a member of the Marlins".

Gordon following the Colabello route.....
"I passed 20 previous tests."

As have most other players yet to be caught.
This doesn't come across well to the public.
A little like an alcoholic falling off the wagon and explaining, "I didn't drink for 20 days."

A wonderful article by Buster Olney on Dee Gordon.
http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/buster- ... t?id=12712

It makes one wonder if Gordon really will be a difference maker once his suspension is over.
Big contract in hand, were PED's the reason for his uptick in productivity?
We'll probably never know the answer to that question.
