Word is that Blackmon will join the Rockies in time for tonight's game.
No idea if he will start tonight or other game's in the series.

Nicasio was supposed to pitch yesterday in Colorado. His best start of the year will be on the bench.

Mattingly takes out Conley when he's pitching a no-hitter with two outs in the 8th inning! :o  :?

Worst manager in MLB by a long shot! This just adds to what everyone already knew!

Poor kid. Who knows if he'll ever get this close again? It'd be one thing if he had 10 outs to go, but four more outs?!?!

Doesn't history tell us career trumps one game?
Maybe if the career is on the rocks like Johan Santana you pitch him into the history books but a player with future value doesn't need his long term health put in jeopardy for one win or the whims of the fans.

Same posters will call the manager an idiot if he lets Conley pitch into 9th with 2 outs, gives up a hit and goes on the DL next week. Right?

Is it conserving a young pitcher or the wussification of baseball? He threw 116 pitches and only needed four more outs. So, is throwing 110 pitches OK but 125-130 pitches a huge injury risk? If he gives up a hit or walks several batters, then, fine, pull him. But the kid had a chance to do something incredibly special, something that few pitchers ever accomplish and would be a hugely proud moment for him for the rest of his life. If I'm managing, I'm giving him a chance for a no-hitter, not yanking him with only four outs to go because the pitch count hit 116.
