Alot of talk here is about the draft. No wonder with a $100,000 at stake. But the auction is where the action is. Do an auction or two the night before the draft. You'll actually be kind of bored during the draft. Well not really but the pace will seem slow. Anyone who hasn't tried it should give it a shot. Once you tried it you'll be hooked. The draft is where the big jackpot is. But the auction is where the passion is.

you remind me of the days when ESPN was telling the world it must like hockey, hoe great hockey is...because they carried it...now they freely laugh at boredom on ice and think we don't remember when they pushed it.



Didn't you put up the same post last year...you take a veiled insult at draft leagues to pump up your auction leagues. Can't you just talk about auctions if that's your thing, without ripping what others care for...the obviously more popular venue (look at the numbers).



But if you want to have a conversation to do some rippin why don't we talk about the minor league team on the North Side of Chicago...how bout those new SPs...bargains $ for big talent like Marquis & Lilly eh



or isn't it the time of year when the Brewers fans start yappin about their underachieving poorly run organization...oh by golly this is the year of the cheese-beer team....sorry but there is still too much Selig poison in that horse for it to win any races...might take decades



but please don't rip on draft leagues...no matter how PC you do it...just because you prefer the less popular format...unless you want to start a serious debate on the matter, which seems highly unlike due to the indirect route you took.

I'm not knocking the draft. Heck I've signed up for it. I'm just stating that auctions have so much to offer! I think if more people signed up for them they would find they are alot of fun.

Theres a reason Greg included auctions in the NFBC. You can do a draft online. But to get the true feel of an auction you have to do it live. The NFBC offers that to many who would not otherwise have the chance to enjoy it. So give it a try. No ones trying to take your draft away!

Drafts and auctions are both a lot of fun. We obviously think so otherwise we wouldn't offer both. There are different strategical elements in place with both that - in my opinion - make them unique enough to separate themselves from the other and make for an enjoyable experience. I don't think one is better than the other. I happen to enjoy both.

Walla Walla, hard to imagine this, but, I have to agree with you on this one point. Auctions are more fun than regular drafts and more strategic. Note I used the word 'more' because both are fun and both require skill, but auctions to me are the Major League of Fantasy BB.



Why are auctions a better representation of skill than regular drafts? Easy. There is a significant amount of luck in a serpentine draft. For example, if you pick 5th, you will NEVER get a chance this year to get Albert Pujolis. That is a fact. In an auction draft, everyone gets the exact same shot at every player. Period.



Why are auctions more fun for me? Fun is in the eye of the beholder, but, I personally like the fact that in auctions, you get to participate more. In the regular draft you sit and wait and cross of names hoping to get the pick you want. In an auction, you get to particpate on every player if you wanted to. That keeps me more interested, and there is more fun.



In a perfect world, the 'big event' for $100k would be all auction drafts, but instead is a serpentine draft. Why? Not because serpentine draft is better than auction at identifying the best overall player, but because it is simpler logistically to execute. The other reason is that most fantasy baseball players learned on Yahoo or ESPN where there is no auction format.



Personally, I think the winner of the Ultimate Auction is the 'National Champ' but, that is just me (hopefully I will win enough this year to join next)
