Signs of the Apocalypse

Post by King of Queens » Wed Jul 06, 2016 6:14 am

And no, I'm not talking about politics! 8-)

This might be one of the toughest years ever to assemble a competent 9-man pitching staff. In one of my leagues, the entire Rockies pitching rotation is rostered:

Jon Gray (picked up in Week 4)
Tyler Chatwood (picked up in Week 5)
Chad Bettis (picked up in Week 12)
Jorge De La Rosa (picked up in Week 12)
Tyler Anderson (picked up in Week 13)

I'm sure there are other leagues where this is the case as well. Nevertheless, this has to be the first instance in NFBC history in which all 5 Rockies starters are owned.

Interesting. I picked up Anderson myself to get the two starts this week, but Bettis and De La Rosa are still FA in my league. Bettis has been owned, De La Rosa has not.

In my league, in the last seven days, 35 FA pitchers have had starts from 20 teams. The teams with the most FA pitchers are surprisingly (not) Atlanta and Minnesota with four each.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
