Stuff and Junk...

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Sat Jul 09, 2016 11:39 pm

A few things on mind and some wayward stats, while watching baseball.....

The DBacks uniforms would look great on black and white television.il throwing that first pitch of the
As is, they look like they're playing in wet uni's while the other team has the advantage of playing in dry ones.

Until throwing that first pitch of the game, Matt Moore, Carlos Rodon, Chris Archer, and Drew Smyly look unhittable....

What do Hishashi Iwakuma, David Price, Dallas Keuchel, Adam Wainwright, and Marcus Stroman have in common with...

Mike Pelfrey, Jered Weaver, Ricky Nolasco, Colin McHugh, and Chad Bettis ?...

Each are on the top 10 list in hits allowed.

No pitcher in the top 25 of hits allowed has an E.R.A. below 3.50

Five pitchers in the top 25 of walks allowed has an E.R.A. below 3.00

Trivia questions....

Who has over 300 lifetime stolen bases, has been healthy and played well this year, yet has not even attempted a stolen base?

Who had 20 stolen bases last year, none this year?

Answers at the bottom of the post....

Some players reach a point where they just quit trying to steal bases.
Carlos Gonzalez, Curtis Granderson, and Andrew McCutchen have two stolen bases....

We are getting closer to the day where two pitchers will enter in the ninth inning.
A righty and lefty.
Each to play right field while the other pitches to same handed batters.....

San Francisco and Cleveland have the best records in baseball (sorry Cubs fans)
Yet, San Francisco's park is full and happy.
Cleveland's park is empty and look pissed that somebody is beating a drum

Check out the foul ball hit earlier today on youtube at ATT&T Park. Classic.

In a time when sluggers are screwing batting average, swinging their hardest, and striking out more....

Mark Reynolds, a .233 lifetime hitter with three 30 homer seasons and three 200 strike out seasons on his resume has these stats.....

.290 batting average...nine homers...and 76 k's

Adrian Gonzalez looks like James Loney....

Josh Tomlin looks like Greg Maddux...

A fellow named Fielder is a DH...

Homer Bailey, a pitcher...

Six players have 15 homers and 15 stolen bases

Twelve have 10 homers and 10 stolen bases

Last year, there were no 30/30 players and four 20/20 players

Charlie Blackmon had 43 stolen bases last year, nine this year.

An owner of Blackmon and friend of mine now calls him Charlie White Man.

Those who projected just 30 stolen bases from Blcakmon are severely disappointed

Jason Heyward has played for three teams in three years.
Atlanta fans don't miss him.
Neither do St. Louis fans.
And Chicago fans haven't warmed to him.
In most cases, I think fans are wrong.
In this case, they're right.
I believe them over NFBC adp and WAR.

Answers to the trivia questions-

Carlos Beltran is done stealing bases...

Manny Machado has forgotten how...

Edit- Some stats may be slightly skewed, this post has been a running work for most of the day.....
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
