The Mets completely botched this injury. He's been playing hurt for a month, they should have DL'd him a month ago especially given the extra rest of the All star break. In the middle of the wild card race he is probably lost for most of if not all of August. The trade for Bruce now has less impact. And by the way Cespedes played 18 holes of golf yesterday when he reaggravated the quad injury. On the surface probably nothing but the optics are terrible and I wouldn't be surprised if he was not properly hydrated when he played baseball that evening. As an aside there is nothing of interest that I could see on their AAA squad that will be of help come September 1st. I could see Thor and Matz being shutdown if the Mets drop out of wild card contention.
