Caleb Joseph

¿Quién es más macho?

Enzo Hernandez, rookie shortstop of the Padres who only managed to drive in a dozen teammates during the 1971 season in 618 plate appearances?

Or

Caleb Joseph, who is still looking for his first RBI of the 2016 season after 132 trips to the plate?

In Enzo's defense, he was playing for a miserable 100 loss team and might have actually been an extra in the living damnation of Nate Colbert.

Caleb's team is contending for the division title, so he has no excuse. If I was Buck Showalter, I would pinch hit with him every time the bases are loaded until the season is over.

Incredible stat. You would think he'd run into an RBI by accident by now. I do not own Joseph anywhere, but distinctly recall targeting him in the later rounds of a few DC drafts but he was always taken before I got around to grabbing him myself. He had a pretty good 2015 from what I recall, and given Wieter's health concerns and a stacked lineup, I thought Joseph might be a sneaky-good third or fourth catcher on a DC roster and useful as a handcuff to Wieters.

I just checked - last year he had 355 plate appearances and hit 11 HR and had 49 RBI. Guess he's a guy that can do OK with regular or semi-regular playing time but whose performance suffers (drastically) with sporadic at bats. Either that or he was incredibly lucky last year and/or incredibly unlucky this year.

He's actually had a number of chances. He's been up 25 times with runners in scoring position. He has six strikeouts and two singles that didn't drive in a run. Of the nineteen balls other balls in play, it's incredible he didn't collect a single run scoring ground out or sacrifice fly. Elias Sports Bureau said nobody has ever gone 100 AB's in a season without a single ribbie.
