The first published mock baseball draft of the 2017 season is on MLB.com and it involves a lot of top names in the industry. Mike Trout was the first overall pick in this slow draft format, which continues now. Here's a look at the early part of the draft:

Will there be another debate about who's the number one pick in roto baseball this year?

Not from me. I'm planning on taking Trout with every number one pick I'm lucky enough to get. After we get past Mr. Trout, however, let the debates begin. I think there may be as many as five or six picks that are justifiable as the second player off the board. In fact, I can see a very fluid and unpredictable first round following Trout at No. 1.

The thing about Trout is he's never satisfied. After his rookie season, the only part of his game that was below average was his throwing arm. He worked hard and improved himself. In 2014, he led the majors in strikeouts and was vulnerable to high fastballs. In 2015, he cut down on the K's and began murdering high heat. His stolen base success rate cratered in 2015 and he improved it dramatically last year. He averages 158 games a season. He doesn't turn 26 until August.
