Payout Structure Question

I've been participating for a couple years but admittedly am still a little hazy on payout structures. There is a payout structure for each type of contest that is announced prior to the season based on an estimate of leagues that will run. What happens if there are more leagues than anticipated? Is there documentation somewhere that explains how that overage is dispersed? This especially pertains to the DC leagues which seem very tough to anticipate because they don't run on a schedule.

The key is to aggressively push the guarantees high enough where this doesn't happen. In the DCs, prizes were based on 3,000 teams last year and we finished with 2,910. If we went over we'd redistribute the additional prize money at the same percentage (80%) to the overall pool other than first place.
