"Mariners acquired OF Mallex Smith and RHP Shae Simmons from the Braves for LHPs Luiz Gohara and Thomas Burrows.

Yes, Jerry Dipoto is at it again. The Braves just gave an extension to Ender Inciarte and have Matt Kemp and Nick Markakis in the corner outfield spots, so they cashed in on their depth to take a chance on a pair of pitching prospects. The Mariners' outfield defense already looked like a strength, but it gets even better with the addition of Smith. The 23-year-old batted .238/.316/.365 with three homers, 22 RBI, and 16 steals in 72 games as a rookie last season. There's a chance the Mariners will send him to Triple-A to begin the year, but his speed makes him worth watching in fantasy leagues."

Another big High A arm.

Gosh the 2021 Braves are going to AWESOME.... :?

There are reports the Mariners are working on a follow-up, flipping Smith.

Ironically, from the perspective of a Mariner fan who longs for a championship no matter how long it takes, I ask politely what is the problem with that? Seeing Luiz Gohara a couple times in Arizona last fall he reminds me of a left-handed Michael Pineda at the same age. I hated to see him go. If Gohara stays healthy, he won't be taking 4 years before he is having an impact in Atlanta.

In comparing teams, Atlanta to Seattle, I'm jealous of what's going on in your opposite corner of the country. It's telling that Gohara went from our second best prospect to your 6th or 7th best. Your organization is building a competitive team for 2017, with a decent hope of a championship team down the road. Dipito is dillusional in thinking he can make a competitive-2016 Marinier team a championship one, constantly depleting an already depleted farm system as he flays about trying. Our next GM is going to have a mess to cleanup.

In any case, good luck to the Braves ahead.

And nicely done yesterday by the Falcons. I'll be rooting for your guys the rest of the way. You have a great head coach I've always liked a lot...

Man, I knew Gohara was a high impact arm with great potential, but I had no idea he would jump from A, to AA, to AAA, to the majors and have a game like that.

Don't know if he will make the starting five out of spring training next year, but yes...yes I am quite pleased. Tickled even.
Kind of like I got feathers in my shorts...TMI?

8-) :D
