I put a poll on my Twitter asking who I should take with the third pick.

So far the results are basically a reflection of what's happening in my head. It ain't helpin at all to give me a clear answer. :)

With this group I predict that I will have a choice of Kershaw or a hitter at 11. I took Kershaw at 7 last year in Tout and it didn't work out, but I'll do it again if presented with the chance.

If Kershaw is available at 1.10 - I'm booting Gonos from the league and taking his spot 8-)

Is this a BA or OBP league?

Makes no difference what type of league this is, the fact that Corey Parson was given a spot in it makes it even less legitimate than it already is. :?

Greg walks the talk. He's been preaching about doubling up on aces for a few years now.

In no NFBC league could you get Kershaw and Bumgarner

In no NFBC league where there is serious money on the line and no trading, and blah, blah, blah would most of these guys draft this way ever, or get a lot of these guys where they are getting them.

I already don't understand how high these SS are going in Reg 5x5 and really don't understand it in OBP leagues.

He has to be better than Jeff Boggis. Played in a home league with him for a few years and he never finished top 3. He also got waxed in low level nfbc satellites.

Honestly Kent, if I have to be critical and harsh, which is quite out of character for me, the majority of these guys are just weak period and would be smoked in high dollar NFBC contests.

Drafting from the 10th spot in Tout Wars last night, I told Tom yesterday there was no doubt in my mind that Clayton Kershaw would fall to me because these industry writers HATE to pick Starting Pitchers. Not only that but I knew that nobody else would take a Starting Pitcher until it came back to me. I said I'd take Kershaw-Bumgarner if it came to me and i just knew that it would.

Sure enough Kershaw fell to 10 and Bumgarner was still there at 21, as was Max Scherzer and Noah Syndergaard. If Scherzer wasn't slightly injured I would have taken him. But taking two Starting Pitchers right away is never easy, but it was the way to go. At that point my goal was to earn 70 points in pitching and 40 in hitting, so I added two closers early and stayed after pitchers with low ERAs and WHIPs after that. No doubt I'm short on hitting, but again I'm trying to compete in those 5 hitting categories, not win each one.

We'll see if this strategy pays off. Here's a look at my team:

C - Wilson Contreras
C - Matt Wieters
1B - Hanley Ramirez
2B - Rougned Odor
SS - Brad Miller
3B - Maikel Franco
CI - Eric Hosmer
MI - Starlin Castro
UT - Michael Saunders
OF - Ian Desmond
OF - Carlos Gomez
OF - Rajai Davis
OF - Matt Holliday
OF - Melky Cabrera

P - Clayton Kershaw
P - Madison Bumgarner
P - Adam Wainwright
P - Robbie Ray
P - Tyler Glasnow
P - Joe Musgrove
P - Jeremy Hellickson
P - Zach Britton
P - Jereuys Familia

Reserves:
Pablo Sandoval
Jayson Werth
Ryan Zimmerman
Lucas Giolito
Luke Weaver
Hector Rondon

Thoughts?

I think our fearless leaders did pretty well. A bit more risk than I would prefer in Tom's pitching staff and Greg's OF is sponsored by the AARP, but they're both solid teams.

Yeah I'm not sure how good the SPs I have will be. Two years ago, I banked on Kershaw and that was an epic fail. Last year Price and Archer failed me. So I decided to wait a bit on SPs this year and get a couple of solid top-of-the-line guys and then a couple younger guys with upside. We'll see if Taillon and Cotton, in particular, can come through.
