WE WILL SELL OUT TODAY

By midnight my horoscope said it- you best get it in if you are on the fence.

Looks to me like things are lining up pretty well between cities too.

Sell out on the Guaranteed spots probably, but looks to me like we are headed for 390 teams.

That would be 9 more in NY

10 more in Las Vegas

5 more in Chicago

7 more in Tampa (or on the phone)

But it's ALL GOOD

Congrats to Greg & Tom

Congrats to Greg & Tom That would require a push, probably all the way to the deadline ... 375 with a phone conference is a much better bet. Of course, the benefit of stopping at 360: an early sellout might motivate the stragglers to book early next season.

Sure it is me being selfish but if you get a good fit league wise at 360 cut it off. Sure it would mean a couple of extra dollars but not worth the risk of having people make travel arrangements and then not having a league to fill.

Beauty of it is I get to fire off an opinion on the matter with less than half the knowledge neccesary to make the right call- only in America!

Highly, highly unlikely to get to 390 anyway.

Greg has Vegas always died the last 2 weeks of signups in all your events or is this one an aberration? Chicago has actually outperformed Vegas in the last 10 days correct? Very interesting!

Chest - Vegas always slows down as the deadline nears; most in LV are coming from farther away and book in advance - especially true with the tighter inventory of rooms in LV these days.

Only 1 spot left to get to 360. I think LV is dead in the water and Tampa too. NYC will continue to get some interest and maybe Chicago grabs another 2-3 spots. I don't see this going to 390 without a ton of crying about draft positions. If Tom and Greg can find a way to give the people draft positions, nobody will care how long they keep this event open.

My guess is we stop at 375 and these guys draw draft positions by 3/10.

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

I know a few people who tried to go to Vegas that weekend and could not find a room or only an expensive one in a rathole, so yeah, I think it has more to do with the ability to go than the desire.

Yup...agreed.

A whole lot of folks live near CHI and NY, so they can jump in a car, draft, drive home.

Can't say the same for Vegas.

So, it looks like we will have two phone leagues. I think I will try to be in one of those. I heard it is much easier to win with a phone league. :D
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Pete I'll leave the speculating to you folks, but everyone has a pretty good handle on the situation here. Of course it's tough to fill up many spots now for Las Vegas as travel and rooms are extremely expensive now. Still, we could get a straggler or two. Tampa unfortunately has peaked. There are at least two owners still considering Chicago, so don't count out the Windy City.

In 2004, the final week netted a record 45 signups for the main event. Okay, maybe it was the last 10 days, but it saved my butt at this company!! :D I think we had like 20 signups the last week in 2005 to sell out by the Saturday morning before the deadline. Last year we crawled to the finish line, but still sold out two days early. This year we've had a nice push since 300.

The wild card is New York. I could see us filling that last league up if all falls right. If not, no problem. But that's the city with the most potential. So give me a few days to let the fence-sitters fall one way or another while I'm enjoying spring training games and then we'll see if 375 is possible. At this point, we're still just waiting for team number 360....and I'm waiting for the airports to reopen around here! Right now Mother Nature has won this contest and I'm not too happy.
