Notes 'N Stuff

Forgive me for the use of opinion that will be in some of these notes.
I'm just a bit surly today and it will probably reflect in this post....

PLEASE, oh please RotoWorld, will you stop following up after somebody has been put on the dl, that their Manager is 'hoping' it is only going to be 10 days.
NO SHIT?
What do you expect a Manager to say?
'Well shoot, it's just Miggy, I hope he takes a long time to recover to give this kid, Hicks, a chance.'
C'mon! It is not news when a Manager says he 'hopes' his guy comes back in 10 days.
It just amounts to false hope for fantasy owners.
Bad form.

Told ya I was surly...

Before Madison Bumgarner got hurt, he had as many Wins as American citizens in political votes lately.
Zero.
We can add Bumgarner to the list of pitchers leaving Colorado with their arm in a sling.
Although for most, it was figuratively, not literally.

Annabelle Sanchez has an ERA of 14.34
Has given up more runs than most Starters.
The Tigers keep waiting for the Shandlerism of "Once displaying a skill...." to kick in.
The Tigers have the 'Pelfrey Rule' in effect. 'We pay him, we use him'.

Can I go back to this Madison Bumgarner thing for a bit? Well I will, cuz you can't stop me :)
I look at these sites who have stories like...
"How to replace Madison Bumgarner"
So stupid.
No matter what is said in the story, it's dumb. There are many different leagues. Differnt pitchers are available in each league.
It is absofuckinglute that there will not be NO pitchers in an NFBC league to replace MadBum. NONE.
It's stupid to think that some writer, any writer, has an answer. Just stupid.
It doesn't stop them from mentioning fellows like Blach, Beede, or maybe some other pitcher in the Giants system that has a name beginning with 'B'...
I got your 'B' for ya....BAH!

Ok, notes...

Saturday, Joey Votto and Anthony Rizzo were third hitters who hit three run homers in the first inning of a game.
Happened only one other time since 1900.
During the steroid age (are we out of that?) in 2004, when Miguel Tejada and ARod did it for their teams.

Dustin Pedroia has more more spike marks in his leg than extra base hits. One.
He has zero home runs.
Have you ever noticed that when a player has zero of any stat, that he is never 'on pace' to have zero of that stat?
He is, you know.

Adrian Gonzalez had 28 homers just two years ago.
Last year 18.
Two years ago, he had eight in April.
This year he has as many homers as Adrian Balboa.
Gonzalez has played in at least 155 games a year since 2006.
This year, that sounds more like a threat to owners than an accomplishment.

If I told you a player hitting third in his lineup, had 20 hits and drawn 13 bases on balls, and six stolen bases, you may think that the player has done well scoring runs.
He has not.
His name is Lorenzo Cain.
He has scored five runs.

Maybe, it's the team.
Eric Hosmer has scored just three runs.
Heck! Clayton Kershaw has done that!
And In 60 less at bats.
Hoss?
More like Little Joe.

The Blue Jays are getting ripped by experts for not hitting well this year.
They are scoring a full run a game more than the Kansas City Royals.
63-46.

Three first round players (by adp standards) have already seen the disabled list.
Trea Turner, Josh Donaldson, and Madison Bumgarner.
An average of one a week.
Two second rounders in Miguel Cabrera and Starling Marte have also been lost to owners.
Difo, Barney, Blach, Hicks, and Osuna....replacements
FAAB Away!!!

Hishashi Iwakuma and Josh Tomlin are averaging two strike outs a Start.
Iwakuma has done the dreaded inverse triangle of pitching stats.
Runs-12
Walks-10
K's- 9

Wanna hear something awesome?
Andrew Benintendi went five for five yesterday.
Guess who the last rookie was that went five for five for Boston....
Nope, not Ted Williams...
It was Babe Ruth in 1918
Ruth pitched a complete game, 10 inning loss for the Red Sox that day.
Red Sox brass was so impressed with the Babe's hitting, that he started in the outfield the very next day.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

Benintendi had a 5-1-5-1 box score with no homer or sb.
As baseball fans, we love seeing a five for five.
As fantasy players...'I only got a R and RBI out of that?'

Think your week was bad?
Bruce Bochy had a schedule that included two off days in four days.
He took advantage of that by having a minor heart procedure.
When leaving the hospital for Denver, he is given the news about Madison Bumgarner hurting his shoulder while dirt biking.
Then Saturday and Sunday, the Giants get ripped by the Rockies.
The first time in Bochy's reign that the Giants had lost by eight runs consecutively, to ANY team.

Friday vs. the Brewers, Adam Wainwright won and had a multiple rbi day.
Sunday vs. the Brewers, Mike Leake won and had a multiple rbi day.
The only two times that has happened this year for pitchers.
Go Brewers!

Tyler Saladino struck out four times on Sunday.
He did get a hit in the first inning.
This is Saladino being Saladino.
In the first inning this year, Saladino is 5-12, hitting .417
In all other innings, Saladino is 5-35, .143

Jason Heyward hits two home runs over the weekend series with the Reds.
The first time he has homered twice in a series this year and something he did not accomplish last year at all.

The Cincinnati Reds have players playing over their heads.
Still, their record is only 10-9
They are fantasy darlings however.
Besides their catcher, each Reds regular has either a .300 batting average (Cozart, Suarez), four homers (Votto, Duvall, Schebler, Suarez), or six stolen bases (Hamilton, Peraza)
A team with something for everybody....

John Lackey, I'll say it, I believe that Eric Thames is cheating.
I also believe it is still more rampant in baseball than most suspect.
The masking tape better than the detectors.

The Red Sox are not the Ped Sox however....
Dustin Pedroia has 16 hits
15 singles.
Xander Bogaerts has 19 hits.
18 singles.

Mike Trout has 26 hits.
13 for extra bases.
Bryce Harper has 26 hits.
13 for extra bases.
The baseball world is back on its axis.

Can someone explain why Carlos Gomez is still hitting leadoff for the Texas Rangers?

Can someone explain why Elvis Andrus hit cleanup yesterday when Joey Gallo is hitting seventh? Wouldn't the threat of a Gallo home run at least make pitchers pitch differently to the 1-3 hitters?

I thought Jose Bautista was bad on our FSTA team until I looked at Greg Bird's numbers!!! Wow.

Yeah....this one is killing me....
