Another day of baseball under the sun, drafting at night, and a good party afterwards!

As what happened last year. the sticker shock of day one saw day two prices more in line.

It's insane how Greg hit so many values on the nose in the second issue both nights.

Perry did another great job...

Guess what we paid again?

I thought Suppan and Prior were great buys at 5 and 3.ON the overpriced ,cant believe Kennedy and Wilson cost 9 dollars each, i wouldnt pay 9 for both. Montero for 8 is another suprise , why so much for someone who could be a backup.

No one got SB's cheap, that's for sure.

It was Wilson or bag SS. Obviously, we weren't the only ones in that boat.

We paid $6 for Montero, not $8. We both like him and said what the hell.

Interesting. I see a bunch of veteran players...guys whose stats you should be able to take to the bank. A few second year guys (Olsen, Duffy), but for the most part proven track records.

Except for the guy who you spent the second most on...Chris Young, OF, ARI. Obviously you and Greg are very high on him, but kind of a gamble on your outfield anchor being as he hasn't been in the league a full year yet (70 AB at the ML level last year). Not saying he is not worth it, but it stands out compared to the rest of the team.

Did an auction anomoly kind of force your hand or was he part of the strategy all along?

Did an auction anomoly kind of force your hand or was he part of the strategy all along? There was a point in the draft where we had a decent amount of money, Pujols, and very few SB.

Cameron, Byrnes, Young, Duffy and Taveras were the main SB guys left, and we didn't have an OF'er at the time, so we decided we were going to get three of those five, but only one of Duffy or Taveras, and two of the other three because of their 20+ HR potential.

Taveras came up first and went for $22. We knew we could get Duffy for less and stopped bidding at $19.

Young came up next, and we simply paid the extra buck because we could. Byrnes came up third (23 players later) and Greg had him at $23, so when the bidding stopped at $20, we were ok with that.

Duffy came up two players later and our max on him was $17 and that's where we got him.

Cameron went about 20 picks later for $24, so not a bargain there, although he's the guy we wanted most in the bunch, but it just didn't work out that way.

A few picks after this we picked up another 40-50 SB's in Rowand, Kennedy and Amezega, and we actually project out to first in SB's if Duffy steals 30. If Duffy duplicated his second half and steals 50, then we have some ammo to trade later on.
