Notes N' Stuff

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Mon May 29, 2017 12:36 pm

Last week, the San Francisco Giants hit three homers in a game.
The first time they have done so, this year.

Only two pitchers have not allowed more than three earned runs, at home, in their first 25 starts.
Lance McCullers and the friend he is honoring this year, Jose Fernandez.

Remember when Contact percentage was a good statistic for fantasy baseball?
Is it any longer?
Here are the leaders in Contact percentage as of May 26...
Joe Mauer, Jorge Polanco, Dustin Pedroia, Andrelton Simmons...

Jose Abreu has yet to hit a homer at home this year.
10 on the road.
Tom Paciorek once hit 11 on the road for the Sox before getting a HOMEr.

Get this one.
We have had three real pitchers duels during the last four years.
Two pitchers throwing eight innings, each allowing three hits or less.
Each has involved Lance Lynn!
Lynn and Clayton Kershaw dueled this past week.
In 2014, Lynn had similar games vs. Jordan Zimmerman and Johnny Cueto
Lynn is in the middle of what could be the toughest stretch of Starts, a National League pitcher can endure.
Road starts vs. the Dodgers, the Rockies, and the Cubs.

How bad is pitching?
A double header matchup in May 'featured' Buck Farmer, Tyler Danish, Matt Boyd, and Mike Pelfrey.
Vroom, vroom.

Somebody at Fangraphs used Weighted Runs Created to illustrate how bad Mike Trout's teammates were in comparison to Mike Trout.
Here is how they rate on the historically bad level...
Barry Bonds 2002
Barry Bonds 2004
Barry Bonds 2001
Ted Williams 1957
Mike Trout 2017

The Braves faced Ty Blach this past week.
It was only the fourth time they have faced a lefty Starter this year.
They are not scheduled vs. a lefty this week.
The White Sox will face four left handers this week.

For you micro-managers out there.
The Rays and Angels have played more games than any team in baseball (53)
A full week's more games than the Minnesota Twins (46)

The Twins, even though playing the fewest games in baseball, have played the most day games.
Remember when the Cubs annually played more...?

The Mets have won two day games this year.
Possibly, the only team who raises their hand when MLB asks who wants to play on Sunday night.

Miami has played 14 interleague games.
The Dodgers are the only team yet to play even one.

The Nationals have five different relievers with a Save.
Yet, not a reliever with more than five Saves.
A wasteland for fantasy enthusiasts.

Saturday marked the one year anniversary since David .Wright last participated in a game.

Saturday, there were 16 games played.
Not one team scored more than six runs and not one game had more than nine runs scored.
Hope you played the 'under'!
It was the first time ever that a day with 16 MLB games had no teams score more than six runs with 16 games being played.
Amazingly, it was the 703rd time that 16 games were scheduled in a day.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!
