Okay, you folks have time on your hands for another two days, so who's willing to test the 2018 waters. What does the First Round look like for November's drafts? And once we get that down, I'm sure the Second Round is easy too, right?
I don't care that he played only 47 games in the first half, I'm leading off with Mike Trout. Who wants the second pick? Either jump in and make a pick or give us your Top 15. We can draft with the help of everyone here. Let's go:
2018 NFBC First Draft
1. Mike Trout
2. Paul Goldschmidt
3. Clayton Kershaw
4. Jose Altuve
5. Aaron Judge
6. Carlos Correa
7. Mookie Betts
8. Nolan Arrenado
9. Trea Turner
10. Bryce Harper
11. Max Scherzer
12. George Springer
13. Kris Bryant
14. Charlie Blackmon
15. Freddie Freeman
16. Joey Votto

I'll take Goldschmidt 2. More expensive than the 9 pick in the Main that I used on him this year, but I'll pay.
2018 NFBC First Draft
1. Mike Trout
2. Paul Goldschmidt

Charlie Blackmon
Jose Altuve
Mookie Betts
Kris Bryant

Notably absent are Machado and Donaldson.
Both have under performed and Machado loses SS eligibility....

I'll take Jose Altuve at 4. Tough call. Tempted to take Betts (five-category stud) or Arenado (four-category stud with perhaps the highest floor of all), but Altuve is a hitting machine and in the middle of that lineup, provides tremendous across-the-board contributions. Also, I find I'm constantly in need of SBs, while HRs are perhaps a little devalued because everyone is hitting them.

LOL. Bryan, I couldn't do it, even in a pretend, non-draft. Probably a weakness of mine, but I like to see guys do it more than once before I put them in the first round. On that score, I guess I'm like Dan, although, who knows, maybe he'd have Judge this high or higher, too. I tend to focus on floor as much if not more than ceiling in the very early rounds. Even if Judge keeps it up the rest of the year, I'd still have a tough time taking him at 1.5 before guys like Betts and Arenado. We'll see how I feel come November.
All that being said, damn, Judge is fun to watch! So impressed with his game, which is much more than huge home runs. That home run derby was riveting TV, even if I didn't want to get into it. This is the most fun Yankees team to watch since the mid- to late-1990's.

For those that know I'm not a homer at all and didn't select him in many of my drafts this year, #6 will be Carlos Correa.

If anyone was going to be a homer this year, you sure picked the right team at the right time. Well done, sir!

I'll gladly take Mookie at 7. On a 30-30 pace with 100 Ribs and 120 Runs. Honestly, I would have no problem taking him at 2 again next year.

Yeah, watching a team go 7-17 sounds like so much fun!

I hear you, although my comments really were directed at their entire first half performance. Even with the recent struggles (which are not surprising given all of the injuries), I think the Yankees have out-performed expectations (or at least my expectations) and have been a fun team to watch and root for.

And think how fun this offense would have been with a healthy Greg Bird in the lineup. Remember, he was the spring training darling as he had 9 dingers this spring. He was the talk of the spring, not Aaron Judge. That bat would have played nicely in this lineup if he was completely healthy. That being said, their pitching hasn't been good and lately their bullpen has been terrible. Getting Chapman back will help for sure.
Okay, who's making this 9th pick? Don't tell Ron Shandler, but I see a lot of last year's first round names in this upcoming list for 2018. I know on average 7 of 15 first round picks bring first round value, but this year could be different. We'll see.

10. Bryce Harper. Next year he will be the ripe age of 25. 300 / 100 / 30 / 100 seems like a floor. Sign me up!

That seems low for Harper. Good value!!
Okay, this first round is looking an awful lot like 2017's first round. The back end should be different, so let's see it. Who's up for bringing George Springer to the first round?
Here's the current first round:
2018 NFBC First Draft
1. Mike Trout
2. Paul Goldschmidt
3. Clayton Kershaw
4. Jose Altuve
5. Aaron Judge
6. Carlos Correa
7. Mookie Betts
8. Nolan Arrenado
9. Trea Turner
10. Bryce Harper
11. Max Scherzer

Totally agree on Scherzer here. The guy is a stud. I think Modica posted or tweeted something about the top 4 SP in the game. The numbers were startling in comparison to the league average. More than ever I am inclined to pay up for that SP1 stud. Another thing I love about Scherzer - the dude is fierce!

Now that Jose Quintana is a Cub, I'm guessing his price will soar a bit next year...

Three Nationals and three Astros among the first 12 picks.
