I have never drafted Yasmany Tomas. The name is the main reason.
Yasmany? How many?
I know it comes from a different culture, but Yasmany?
The name doesn't roll off the tongue.
And when I actually saw Tomas play, I saw a chunky, slowish kid who only had a quick bat as his only compliment.
Not enough to overcome the name for me.
Tomas Yasmany? Yeah, I could have lived with that.
BJ went to Melvin and his career went in the toilet.
Melvin.
No chance.
Mike went to Giancarlo.
I must admit that I did draft Mike. I've never drafted Giancarlo.
I wish I had.
Kendrys Morales was Kendry. When he came from Cuba, where he was called Kendrys, he said he wanted to drop the 'S'.
Six years later, he wanted it back in his name.
If going to a foreign country, I can't imagine cutting off a letter in my name as a thing.
"Hi, my name is Da, never did like that 'n',"...

'Kendrys' sounds like a plural anyway.
Like LeBrons James or Odells Beckham.
Oh crap, don't give Beckham the idea, he'll do anything to stay a news story (especially when he's not)
And he plays in the right city for that.
Rafael Palmeiro pointed his finger at Congress and proclaimed that he never took steroids.
Then he went on tv and said that he DID use Viagra.
And you think your life sucks.
In 1961, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris were hitting home runs (to) left and right.
They were nicknamed the 'M&M Boys'
An agent tried to get them a deal with M&M Candies. But Phillip Morris refused them, saying that M&M's did not need to use celebrity endorsements to sell their candies.
Well, that was close-minded of them.
Maris went on to break Ruth's record and M&M's missed out on the chance to put a little * on each one of their candies.
When Joe DiMaggio was on his hitting streak, his enterprising agent approached Heinz.
Heinz had a slogan of having 57 different varieties of products. (it wasn't true, they already had over 60, but 57 was a lucky number and they already had it on the bottle)
Anyway, a deal was struck between Heinz and DiMaggio that if Joe reached a hitting streak of 57, a deal with Heinz would kick in and DiMaggio would endorse Heinz. Major money was to be made if the streak stopped at 57.
The streak stopped at 56.
DiMaggio would later make up for it later by being 'Mr. Coffee'
Baseball players have never been large endorsers.
Think about any baseball star and there is hardly a product attached to him.
The 'Baby Ruth' bar supposedly had nothing to do with Babe Ruth himself, but they certainly cashed in on his name.
There's the 'Reggie Bar'....umm chocolate and caramel...but that didn't last long.
Even now, the largest endorsers are from other sports.
I can't turn on a channel, any channel, without seeing Shaq.
Tiger Woods still has huge endorsement deals...why I don't know....a shell of himself
LeBron James, John McEnroe, Peyton Manning all have larger deals than baseball players.
Mike Trout hit balls through Subway Sandwich windows for awhile, but he stopped his vandalous ways.
I feel sorry for the Yankees and Diamondbacks.
I know, I know, it's hard to EVER feel sorry for the Yankees, but listen up...
For the last month, these two teams have dominated, yet they know in their hearts that they will never finish in first place.
Worse, they have to wait while teams beneath them in the standings, WAY BENEATH THEM, fight it out to see who gets the chance to knock off the Yankees and Diamondbacks in a stupid one game playoff.
It even SOUNDS stupid saying 'one game playoff'.
The Yankees and Diamondbacks know that anything can happen in one game.
It sucks to be them.
Our PreMature Draft starts next week.
I love drafting. Nothing can hurt us when we're drafting.
Each pick is gold.
There isn't one player who could mess it up for us while we're drafting.
That happens much later.
Till then, we love our team.
We just know that all 30 players will stick on our rosters because each was considered for a long time and picked with careful attention.
Sometimes, it's a shame that players have to play and ruin it for us.
We are so smart until they make us feel so stupid.
Sorry, I've deleted my last three or four posts, I'm submitting this one....
